Job summary

Scarborough Health Network (SHN) invites applications for a Part-time Registered Nurse at the Centenary Site. You will contribute to multidisciplinary care, assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care for a diverse post-surgical, cardiac, stroke, and chronic illness patient population.

Ideal candidates hold a current College of Nurses of Ontario certification, BScN, and demonstrate strong communication, organisational skills and the ability to work independently within a team.

Qualifications

  • Current certification with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • CPR at a Basic Cardiac Life Support level (BCLS).
  • Health Assessment course or equivalent experience.
  • Rehabilitation courses from a recognized institution.
  • Gerontology courses or equivalent experience.
  • Current adult medical/surgical experience.
  • Evidence of sound organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrates commitment to safety programs and patient safety.

Responsibilities

Job Description

Position Overview: Reporting to Manager of Continuing Care, the successful candidate will be responsible for assessing, planning implementation and evaluating nursing care and practice activities in a multidisciplinary environment. You will be providing care to a diverse patient caseload of post surgical, cardiac, stroke, musculoskeletal, progressive disorders, complex chronic illness, and dementia patients.

Requirements
  • Current certification with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Competent to perform CPR at a Basic Cardiac Life Support level
  • Health Assessment course or equivalent experience
  • Rehabilitation courses from a recognized institution
  • Gerontology courses or equivalent experience
  • Current adult medical / surgical experience
  • Evidence of sound organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to work well in stressful situations
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with patients, families, all levels of staff and the community
  • Ability to work well independently and to exercise sound judgement
  • Ability to perform the essential duties of the position
  • Demonstrated initiative and the ability to function both independently and as a multidisciplinary team member in a fast paced demanding environment
  • Demonstrates values consistent with SHN’s Code of Conduct and is committed to fostering a healthy and positive work environment in accordance with Health & Safety policy and legislation.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to SHN's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety, and environmental safety and participates in regular in-service education in this area.
