Job summary

Vancouver Island Health Authority is seeking a Registered Nurse for a temporary part-time position in a multi-site setting. Working 08:00–16:00 with 30 hours biweekly (0.42 FTE), you will deliver direct nursing care to patients in hospital or community settings within VIHA policies and standards.

Must be registered with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives, with up to two years of related experience. Some units require specialty certification and ECG interpretation ability as part of the role,

Qualifications

• Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN.
• Up to two years recent, related experience depending on clinical setting.
• Specialty unit positions require area specific specialty certification for the unit.
• Heart Health nurse positions require demonstrated arrhythmia interpretation ability (75% on ECG Challenge).

Responsibilities

• Plans and provides direct nursing care to patients/residents in hospital or community in accordance with unit/program philosophy, guidelines and standards.
• Communicates effectively with co-workers, physicians, patients and families; manages workload and sets priorities.
• Ensures patient safety and quality of care in line with VIHA policies.

Job Description

Reports to the Nurse Manager, Department Head, or designate. Plans and provides direct nursing care to patients/residents in the hospital or in the community in accordance with the unit/program philosophy, competency guidelines, policies, and the BC College of Nurses and Midwives Standards for Nursing Practice in British Columbia.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Training And Experience

Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant. Up to two (2) years recent, related experience depending on clinical setting.

• Specialty unit nurse positions also require area specific specialty certification for the unit.
• Heart Health nurse positions also require demonstrated ability in arrhythmia interpretation as evidenced by a mark of 75% on the VIHA ECG Challenge exam.
