Job summary

Vancouver Island Health Authority (VIHA) in Victoria, BC is seeking a registered nurse for a casual position. The nurse will provide direct nursing care to patients in hospital or community settings in alignment with unit philosophy and BC College of Nurses and Midwives standards.

Reports to the Nurse Manager or designate, with responsibilities that include prioritizing workloads, coordinating with physicians and families, and ensuring safety and quality of care according to VIHA guidelines.

Qualifications

• Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant.
• Up to two (2) years recent, related experience depending on clinical setting.

Responsibilities

• Plan and provide direct nursing care to patients/residents in the hospital or in the community.

Job Description

Reports to the Nurse Manager, Department Head, or designate. Plans and provides direct nursing care to patients/residents in the hospital or in the community in accordance with the unit/program philosophy, competency guidelines, policies, and the BC College of Nurses and Midwives Standards for Nursing Practice in British Columbia.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Training And Experience

Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant. Up to two (2) years recent, related experience depending on clinical setting.

• Specialty unit nurse positions also require area specific specialty certification for the unit.
• Heart Health nurse positions also require demonstrated ability in arrhythmia interpretation as evidenced by a mark of 75% on the VIHA ECG Challenge exam.
