Job summary

A regional health authority in Comox Valley is seeking a Registered Nurse - Perinatal to provide nursing care to obstetrical patients. Key responsibilities include direct patient care and adherence to clinical guidelines. Candidates should be registered with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives and have completed a recognized Perinatal Nursing program. Qualifications

  • Graduate of a recognized Perinatal Nursing specialty program required.
  • Two (2) years recent related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care to obstetrical patients.
  • Report to the Nurse Manager and ensure patient safety.
  • Work within the guidelines established by the BC College of Nurses and Midwives.

Job Description

In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority, patient safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at VIHA; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Reports to the Nurse Manager, or designate, the Registered Nurse - Perinatal plans and provides direct nursing care to obstetrical patients in the hospital in accordance with the unit/program philosophy, competency guidelines, policies; national, provincial, regional and local obstetrical guidelines and the BC College of Nurses and Midwives Standards for Nursing Practice in British Columbia.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Training And Experience

Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant

Graduate of a recognized Perinatal Nursing specialty program.

Current CPR Basic Rescuer.

Breastfeeding Course Certificate

Two (2) years recent related experience; OR

an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
