Alberta Health Services’ Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge seeks a part‑time Registered Nurse for 5C Pediatrics. You will deliver comprehensive nursing care for pediatric and adult patients admitted for medical, surgical and mental health needs, under CRNA scope.
You will apply critical thinking and nursing processes to ensure safety and family‑centred care while supporting health promotion and well‑being. Provisional permits are paid per hour during transition.
Reporting to the Pediatrics & NICU Manager (or designate) at the Chinook Regional Hospital, the RN provides care within the full scope of practice as defined by the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) to pediatric and/or adult patients admitted for medical, surgical and/or mental health issues. The RN accepts responsibility for continuing competencies through ongoing professional development including participation in education programs and quality improvement activities. The RN position requires physical demands including lifting, pulling and pushing, walking, standing, transferring and transporting patients, and equipment on a frequent basis. When required, you may be assigned to provide assistance to other areas of Chinook Regional Hospital. Preference will be given to those candidates who currently work on pediatrics and have current charge nurse experience on this unit.
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values.PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.
Completion of an accredited nursing education program.Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.
Current PALS certification required. Minimum 2 years of acute care pediatric nursing in last 3 years required. Charge experience on pediatrics in the last 3 years required.
5 or more years of acute pediatric experience preferred. PODS experience preferred. Preceptor experience preferred.
