Your Opportunity

Unit 93/94 is a Medical Teaching Unit with 29 beds per unit, focusing on providing quality and safe care to complex acute medical patients. If you are a RN seeking a supportive environment and opportunities to enhance your nursing skills within our Internal Medicine Team, this position is ideal. As an RN, your responsibilities include providing assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care to promote health, prevent illness, and restore health. You will have opportunities to mentor learners, manage admissions and discharges, and prioritize care needs. There is also potential for training as a Charge Nurse, offering an advanced scope of practice. We provide extended orientation, educational and leadership opportunities, simulation experience, and a vital role in patient care delivery. RNs are eligible for shift premiums. Job Description

As a Registered Nurse, you will deliver diverse nursing services to patients, families, and communities, ensuring their safety and well-being. Your role involves utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making, along with teaching, counseling, and advocating for patients and families. You will support an integrated, holistic approach to patient care, health promotion, and maintenance, reflecting AHS's shared values and vision.

Note: Provisional Permit Holders will be paid $39.58/hour to $54.16/hour. Once registered, pay adjusts to the applicable RN rate per AHS/UNA agreement.

Qualifications
  • Completion of an accredited nursing program
  • Active or eligible registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA)
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP)
  • If not practicing in the last five years, completion of CRNA Medication Management and NextGenU Health Assessment courses
Additional Qualifications
  • Experience on an adult acute medical nursing unit within the last 12 months
  • Ability to learn new skills and adapt to technology
  • Current Heart and Stroke BLS-HCP certification
  • Strong assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
  • Excellent time management and organization skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency with clinical documentation standards (Connect Care)
  • Experience on a unit of similar acuity/patient population
  • Charge nurse experience preferred
