Job description

Job Title: Registered Kinesiologist at Lifemark

Lifemark is passionate about enriching the health of Canadians through movement. While physiotherapy remains a core service, kinesiology is integral in promoting our clients’ healing and improving recovery time. We believe when you move better, you feel better. This philosophy drives us, and we are seeking a Registered Kinesiologist who shares this vision.

The successful candidate will have at least 2 years of experience working in the kinesiology field. Experience working with Veterans, implementing work hardening programs within an occupational rehabilitation setting, and collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to create treatment goals are strong assets.

The intent of our Rehabilitation Program is to provide effective Veteran-centered care that responds to the medical, psycho-social, and vocational rehabilitation needs of eligible Canadian Forces Veterans. The goal is to reduce barriers related to the participant’s health issues and to assist in adjusting to life at home, in the community, or at work. The rehabilitation plan is short-term and goal-focused to restore function as much as possible.

In November 2022, we will launch a new partnership with Partners in Canadian Veterans Rehabilitation Services (PCVRS), the national contractor for medical, psycho-social, and vocational rehabilitation services. This partnership offers a more consistent, holistic, and integrated approach to care, enhancing experiences for both providers and participants. The model aims to align functional goals among providers and standardize treatment outcomes to support rehabilitation success.

In this role, you will:
  1. Work cooperatively with Veterans and clients to help set and achieve functional goals.
  2. Collaborate with physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and psychotherapists as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  3. Design, implement, and supervise graded exercise, work conditioning, and/or work hardening programs.
  4. Reassess client progress through functional testing.
  5. Document findings in patient charts regularly.
  6. Conduct group orientation and educational sessions, along with one-on-one client education.
  7. Coordinate interdisciplinary team reports and complete functional components of initial, progress, and discharge reports.
  8. Liaise with stakeholders to communicate patient progress.
Qualifications:
  1. Degree in Kinesiology from an accredited university.
  2. Registration with the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario (COKO).
  3. At least 2 years of experience working with Veterans and/or supporting occupational rehabilitation programs is a strong asset.
Our Commitment to Inclusion:

We are dedicated to creating an inclusive environment where individuals from all backgrounds can thrive. Lifemark promotes equal employment opportunities for all applicants, including those identifying as Indigenous peoples, newcomers to Canada, women, and visible minorities.
