Registered Kinesiologist

While physiotherapy remains a core service, Kinesiology is integral in promoting our clients’ healing and improving recovery time. We believe when you move better, you feel better. This is at the heart of everything we do, and we are seeking a Registered Kinesiologist who shares this same philosophy.

The successful candidate will have 2+ years’ experience working in the Kinesiology field. Experience working with Veterans, implementing work hardening programs within an occupational rehabilitation setting, and working as part of an interdisciplinary team creating collaborative treatment goals is a strong asset.

The intent of our Rehabilitation Program is to provide effective Veteran-centered care that responds to the medical, psycho-social and vocational rehabilitation needs of eligible Canadian Forces Veterans. The goal is to help reduce barriers in relation to a participant’s eligible health problem ( s ) and to help adjust to life at home, in community or at work. The rehabilitation plan is intended to be short term and goal focused to restore function to the extent possible.

November, 2022 will be the launch of our new partnership with Partners in Canadian Veterans Rehabilitation Services (PCVRS), the national contractor for the administration and delivery of all medical, psycho-social and vocational rehabilitation services. This offers a greater opportunity to have a more consistent approach to care that is holistic and integrated, improving experiences for both providers and Participants. The new model will ensure common functional goals among providers and standardized treatment outcomes to better support rehabilitation success .

In this role you will:

  • Work cooperatively with Veterans and other clients to help them set and achieve functional goals.
  • Be a vital team member communicating and working alongside physiotherapists, occupational therapists and psychotherapists for a truly interdisciplinary team experience
  • Design, implement and supervise graded exercise , work conditioning and/or work hardening programs
  • Perform reassessment of client progress through functional testing
  • Record functional and subjective findings in patient charts on a regular basis
  • Conduct group orientation and education lectures and regular one on one education to clients
  • Coordinate interdisciplinary team reports and complete functional components of initial, progress and discharge reports.
  • Liaison with stakeholders to communicate patient progress

Qualifications

  • Graduate of University Kinesiology degree program
  • Registration with the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario (COKO)
  • 2+ years’ experience working with Veterans and/or supporting occupational rehabilitation programs is a strong asset
