Job summary

Extendicare is seeking a full-time Registered Dietitian for its Timmins Home to provide nutritional care services. The role involves completing assessments, developing care plans, and educating residents and families. The ideal candidate will have experience in nursing homes or similar settings and be registered with the College of Dieticians of Ontario.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience in a long-term care setting preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of geriatric nutrition preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

REGISTERED DIETICIAN

Candidates are invited to apply for the full-time position of Registered Dietitian at our Extendicare Timmins Home, located in Timmins, ON.

Job Description

The Dietitian provides nutritional care services for residents within legislative and budgetary parameters.

Responsibilities

• Complete nutritional assessments for each resident using RAI MDS 2.0 as required.
• Determine individualized resident diets and nutritional interventions involving residents, families, and care teams.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate nutritional care plans, identifying concerns, goals, and interventions.
• Maintain communication with the Dietary Manager regarding residents' changing needs.
• Review seasonal menus for nutritional adequacy and provide written approval.
• Educate residents, families, and team members on nutrition and hydration.
• Participate as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team and represent Extendicare in regional and professional activities.
• Contribute to interdisciplinary committees related to resident care, facility operation, and quality indicators.

Qualifications

• Registered Dietitian, eligible for membership with the College of Dieticians of Ontario.
• Extensive knowledge of geriatric nutrition preferred.
• 3-5 years of experience in a long-term care setting preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, internet, and familiarity with RAI MDS 2.0; experience with PointClickCare is an asset.
• Excellent organizational, time management, and multi-tasking skills.
• Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety practices, principles, and legislation.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
