Key responsibilities include:
  • Making effective decisions on field investigation, scoping, estimating, interfaces, and documentation for maintenance, corrective, service, and capital work.
  • Planning and coordinating operational, maintenance, and construction activities efficiently using computerized software.
  • Coordinating job planning with customers, departments, outside agencies, and contractors to optimize resources and minimize service disruptions.
  • Conducting inspections, scoping capital projects, providing cost estimates, and supporting work crews technically.
  • Initiating and processing job orders and ensuring compliance with NSPI standards.
  • Participating in regulatory training and ongoing skill development programs.
  • Ensuring safety and environmental compliance, observing Occupational Health and Safety Rules, and adhering to environmental management systems.
  • This is a safety-sensitive position requiring pre-employment drug and alcohol testing as per company policy.
  • Flexibility to work across the Metro Region and other territories, with residence within 30 minutes of the headquarters, and availability for emergency after-hours work.
Qualifications and skills for success:
  • Grade XII education or equivalent.
  • Diploma in Electrical or Electronic Engineering Technology or Journeyperson Electrician/Electrical Technician with at least 1 year of substation or system maintenance experience.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Project management experience handling multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Knowledge of NSPI operations, utility transmission, distribution, and telecommunication equipment is advantageous.
  • Valid Nova Scotia Driver's License with at least two years of driving experience and a satisfactory driver’s abstract.
  • Candidates without the above qualifications may be considered as Apprentice Regional Planners if they have completed relevant technical training or experience.
