Job summary

SECURE is seeking a Short Haul Driver based in Red Deer, AB, to transport metal materials between sites, recycling facilities, and client locations. You will help maintain smooth operations in the recycling division, ensuring safety and customer satisfaction.

The role runs Monday to Friday, 6am–3pm, with rotating Saturdays as needed. You will handle loading, securing cargo, and communicating with dispatch to optimize routes while meeting regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Valid Class 1 driver's license with a clean driving record and 5+ years driving experience in the transportation industry.
• 3/4 line minimum
• Experience operating flatbeds, tankers and heavy-duty trucks.
• Lowbed and self-loader experience are a plus.
• Ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Strong communication with clients, dispatchers, and team members.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to all local, provincial, and federal traffic laws and regulations to ensure safe driving practices at all times.
• Skillfully maneuver different types of vehicles and equipment, ensuring safe operation during loading, transit, and unloading.
• Follow safety protocols established by SECURE and customer sites to maintain a safe working environment.
• Accurately position and secure waste bins, recording and tracking using the tracking system.
• Maintain regular weekday schedule with potential additional hours to meet operational demands.
• Communicate clearly with the dispatch team to optimize routes and improve efficiency.
• Support operational tasks at the recycling facility as required, including basic maintenance.
