Job summary

Government of the Northwest Territories seeks a Regional Emergency Management Coordinator on a term basis to lead planning and response efforts for communities within 25 kilometres of Fort Simpson. The position requires familiarity with EMA, ICS Canada and GNWT emergency provisions.

The successful candidate will coordinate emergency planning, preparedness and recovery programs, work with diverse stakeholders, and adapt strategies to evolving scenarios in the Dehcho region.

Qualifications

• Degree in emergency management or social sciences with course work in emergency management.
• Two years of directly related emergency management experience.
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and deliver emergency planning and preparedness programming to communities in the region.
• Coordinate and deliver emergency recovery programs.
• Collaborate with a range of stakeholders including community governments, department officials, federal and other organizations.
