Job summary

The Government of Manitoba is seeking a highly skilled Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Mechanic to join the Brandon district team. You will inspect, service, repair, and install HVAC/R systems across owned and leased facilities to ensure safe, reliable climate control and energy efficiency.

You must hold an Interprovincial Journeyperson Refrigeration & AC Mechanic license, be legally able to work in Canada, and maintain required clearances.

Qualifications

• Experience operating and maintaining HVAC systems in large facilities.
• Knowledge of Manitoba codes and regulations.
• Knowledge of WHMIS, Workplace Safety and Health Act, and safe work procedures.
• Ability to plan and make effective work-related decisions.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
• Strong verbal communication with contractors, clients and the public.
• Knowledge of PLCs, BAS or DDC controlled mechanical systems.
• Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Inspect, service, maintain, repair, decommission and install residential, commercial and institutional heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration units and systems and related equipment.
• Ensure maximum efficiency, client comfort and energy management across facilities in District 3.
• Collaborate with contractors and facilities staff to support building operations.

Duties:

The incumbent is responsible to inspect, service, maintain, repair, decommission and install residential, commercial and institutional heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration units and systems and related equipment at owned & leased facilities within District 3 to ensure maximum efficiency, client comfort and effective energy management.

Qualifications:

Essential:

• Experience operating and maintaining HVAC systems in a large commercial, industrial and/or institutional facility.
• Experience working with Manitoba codes and regulations.
• Knowledge of WHMIS, Workplace Safety and Health Act, and safe work procedures.
• Ability to plan and make effective work-related decisions.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
• Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with contractors, clients, and the general public.
• Knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC's), Building Automated Systems(BAS) or Direct Digital Control (DDC) controlled mechanical systems.

Conditions of Employment:
