CAD Railway Industries Ltd. is an ambitious Quebec-based company that has been in operation for over 60 years. We specialize in the repair, conversion, and refurbishment of rolling railway equipment (various types of wagons and locomotives) with workshops and offices in Montreal (Lachine sector) and Alberta (under the Caltrax banner).

Over the years, our mission has evolved to become a responsible company dedicated to repairing and extending the lifespan of the equipment entrusted to us by our clients. In many cases, we modernize these assets, essentially giving them a second life.

Our teams design equipment that meets the needs of clients operating in both freight and passenger transport sectors.

JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Mechanical Department Manager, the Technical Writer will be responsible for researching and writing technical procedures and related documentation. This includes standard procedures, refurbishment of used railway equipment, and manufacturing of new products.

This will be achieved using various methods while ensuring compliance with industry norms, standards, regulations, and internal specifications and processes.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensure all HSE policies, processes, and procedures are followed;
  • Conduct research, plan, and write technical operational data using approved engineering information;
  • Review technical maintenance data as needed;
  • Validate and integrate railway equipment within relevant standards and guidelines;
  • Read and interpret technical drawings and documents;
  • Plan, execute, and document procedural validations in accordance with internal standards;
  • Create, update, and manage railway maintenance instructions, operational procedures, maintenance circulars, and equipment manuals;
  • Review maintenance instructions and procedures to optimize work, material use, and performance;
  • Prepare and create recurring reports as required;
  • Comply with company policies, procedures, and HR directives;
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in technical publications or related field;
  • Diploma in a relevant field;
  • Experience in transportation and/or railway industry;
  • Knowledge of transportation and railway sectors;
  • Insurance plans (dental, medical, life, disability, etc.);
  • Retirement savings plan;
