Job summary

Pitt Meadows Plumbing and Mechanical Systems is seeking a Red Seal Welder with TIG experience to join our Maple Ridge shop. You will work with journeymen and apprentices on large-scale residential, commercial, institutional, and medical projects and read blueprints to weld to specifications.

Reporting to the Welding Supervisor, you will lay out parts, tack weld or weld components, and operate flame-cutting equipment while adhering to QA/QC and safety policies.

Qualifications

• Red Seal Certification and a minimum of 3 years welding experience.
• Experience SMAW, MCAW, GMAW, GTAW and CWB certifications is required.
• Ability to read blueprints, fabrication drawings and welding process specs.
• Legally entitled to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and welding process specifications.
• Lay out, position, and secure parts and assemblies to specifications.
• Tack weld or weld components using electric, gas, arc or other welding equipment.
• Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment.
• Comply with health and safety policy and QA/QC procedures.
• Develop project understanding and work with order/fabrication tracking software.
• Perform other duties as required.

Reporting to the Welding Supervisor, the Red Seal Welder will:

• Work alongside other members of the welding team made up of journeymen and apprentices.
• Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and welding process specifications.
• Lay out, position, and secure parts and assemblies according to specifications using straightedge, combination square, calipers, and ruler.
• Tack weld or weld components and assemblies using electric, gas, arc, or other welding equipment.
• Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment.
• Comply with company health and safety policy.
• Practice project-specific QA/QC procedure.
• Develop a strong understanding of each project.
• Work with order/fabrication tracking software and automated tooling as required.
• Performs other duties as required.

Education and Experience

• Red Seal Certification

• A minimum of 3 years experience in the welding industry
• SMAW, MCAW, GMAW, GTAW
• SMAW CWB Valid all position
• FCAW, CWB Valid all Position

Compensation: $40.00 to $44.00/h + 5% RRSP + 100% Employer-paid Extended Health & Dental benefits package + LTD + Life Insurance + AD&D.
