Job summary

Burnbrae Farms, a leading Canadian egg processor, is seeking a Red Seal Millwright for a permanent, full-time day position at our Winnipeg facilities. You will perform preventive and reactive maintenance on equipment and buildings, participate in CMMS work orders, and help maintain GMP standards.

Your experience should include TIG welding capability and at least 5 years in food processing environments, with a schedule Mon–Fri 6am–2pm. This is an on-site role with potential OT and benefits.

Qualifications

  • Millwright Red Seal License/Certification.
  • Minimum of 5 years trade experience in a food processing environment is preferred.
  • Experience with TIG welding is an asset.
  • Must be able to work Mon-Fri, 6am-2pm.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere and collaborate with coworkers and management.
  • Adhere to GMPs, maintain sanitary conditions, and ensure product quality.
  • Participate in CMMS work orders, record time and activities, provide feedback.
  • Report safety and food safety concerns to management.
  • Promote safety culture and comply with all safety policies.

  • Perform repairs to equipment and building as required.

Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor

Shift: Mon-Fri, 6am-2pm

Pay rate: $46.53ph

Overtime: > 40 hours; > 8 hours per day.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get along with co‑workers and management.
  • Adhere to safe work practices, follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained.
  • Participate in computed Maintenance Management Program, following all procedures of creating work orders, record time and activities and provide feedback
  • Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety.
  • Actively participate in and promote our safety culture by following safe work practices and adhering to all safety policies and procedures. Responsible for reporting all incidents, accidents and observations of unsafe acts or conditions.
  • Maintains regular and consistent attendance in relation to production schedule and or time scheduled for.
  • Performs minor and major repairs to equipment and the building.
  • Performs preventative maintenance procedures on building mechanical equipment on a scheduled basis; inspects belts, checks fluid levels, replaces filters, greases bearings, seals etc. repairs or replaces broken parts.
  • Completes daily, weekly, and monthly checklists on building equipment maintenance procedures and maintains records of scheduled maintenance procedures
  • Operates a computer which controls and monitors mechanical and utility systems
  • Responds to emergency maintenance requests, as required.
  • Performs outside custodial such as snow removal, as required.
  • May obtain estimates for supplies, repair & order parts as needed.
  • Share and educate junior technical team members of best practices as they relate to mechanical repairs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Self-starter, with proven time-management, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with other team members in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to understand mechanical and electrical systems, functions, components and troubleshoot.
  • Ability to work in different temperature environments.
  • Must be able to work at heights.
  • Must be able to work with power and hand tools
  • Ability to lift 25 Kg regularly in order to perform all job function requirements.
  • Must be able to document all required information accurately and legible.
  • Must be able to operate a pallet jack and forklift once training is provided.
  • Willing to work overtime when business needs require.
  • Able to weld TIG stainless considered an asset.

Education/Experience:

  • Millwright Red Seal License/Certification
