Job summary

Maple Lodge Farms, Canada’s largest poultry processor, is seeking a Weekend Millwright at our Brampton facility. The role focuses on maintaining equipment, troubleshooting and completing emergency repairs to keep the plant running smoothly. Open to licensed millwrights and 3rd year+ apprentices.

Location: 8301 Winston Churchill Blvd, Brampton, ON. Shifts: Sat-Sun 7am-7:30pm, Tue-Wed 7am-3:30pm. We offer weekly pay, group health benefits, a company pension match after 1 year, onsite cafeteria,

Qualifications

  • Must possess mechanical aptitude.
  • Welding experience.
  • Ability to work from schematics, drawings and prints when troubleshooting.
  • OHSA, WHMIS knowledge and food plant regulatory standards (CFIA, GMP, HACCP, BRC).
  • Analytical with problem-solving capabilities.
  • Attention to detail in a fast-paced environment with multi-tasking.
  • Computer literacy (MS Office).
  • A valid Millwright license, proof or apprenticeship/pre-apprentice education is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Performs skilled journeyperson level maintenance, including preventative and corrective maintenance, inspections, modifications, installation and dismantling of systems, troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Reads drawings, blueprints, diagrams and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
  • Installs, aligns, dismantles and moves stationary industrial machinery and equipment such as pumps, fans, tanks and conveyors according to layout plans using hand and power tools.
  • Assembles machinery prior to installation using hand tools and welding equipment.
  • Informs Maintenance Manager/Supervisor of outstanding mechanical matters.
  • Keeps equipment and work area clean and organized; stores tools properly when not in use.
  • Assists other trades in emergency repairs and other tasks as necessary.
  • Provides oversight to Apprentice Millwrights.

Job description

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Weekend Millwright will be responsible for maintaining equipment, troubleshooting and completing emergency repairs to keep the plant running as efficiently as possible.

This position is open to both licensed millwrights and 3rd year+ apprentices. This is an existing position in the company.

Saturday & Sunday, 7am - 7:30pm, Tuesday & Wednesday 7am - 3:30pm

What You Will Be Doing

  • Stores equipment and tools properly when they are not in use and ensures that work area and machines are kept clean, organized and tidy at all times.
  • Assists other trades in emergency repairs and other tasks as necessary.
  • Provides oversight and guidance to Apprentice Millwrights. Apprentice Millwrights complete all duties of a Millwright under the guidance of a Licensed Millwright.
What You Will Bring
  • Must possess mechanical aptitude;
  • Welding experience;
  • Ability to work from schematics, drawings and prints when troubleshooting;
  • Working knowledge of food and meat plant regulatory standards (CFIA, etc.), GMP, HACCP, BRC, food safety, food quality, etc.;
  • Working knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), WHMIS;
  • Analytical, with problem-identification and problem-solving capabilities;
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail and effective multi-tasking is essential;
  • Computer literacy (MS Office).
  • A valid Millwright license, proof or apprenticeship or pre-apprentice education is desired.
