Summary

Reporting to the Site Superintendent, the Apprentice Carpenter / Journeyman Carpenter selected will be responsible for the completion of carpentry work and quality management, ensuring compliance with local building code and company safety policy. The Apprentice Carpenter / Journeyman Carpenter is also responsible for general site maintenance and clean‑up as needed.

Responsibilities

• Adherence to building code and corporate safety requirements on all sites
• Carpentry work that falls outside of the scope of work of subtrades
• Oversight of subtrade work
• Perform touch ups and repairs on subtrade deficiencies
• Perform frame checks and mechanical checks
• Finish carpentry work
• Quality management inspections and reporting
• Report issues as they arise to the superintendent
• Proficient knowledge and use of power tools such as air nailers, skill saw, screw gun
• Mentor novice workers
• Other tasks as required by the site foreman / site superintendent

Requirements

• Experience in residential framing
• Enrollment in Carpentry apprenticeship program as a 3rd or 4th year or completion of Journeyman Carpentry
• Experience in finish carpentry is an asset
• Equipment operation experience is an asset (zoom boom / skid steer)
• Knowledge of building code and safety code requirements
• Be organized, interpersonal and strong communicator with the ability to build excellent relationships with subtrades and workers on site
• Candidate must have excellent time management skills, have the ability to prioritize work and be results driven
• Exceptional attention to detail and strong understanding of quality standards
• Highly organized, results‑oriented and able to work in a multi‑functional team environment
• Must have own vehicle and valid driver’s license
