Job summary

BCAA in Victoria, BC is seeking a Red Seal Automotive Technician to join our Auto Service Centre. You will manage repairs, mentor apprentices, and uphold safety, quality, and clear communication with Members and the team.

You bring a Red Seal certificate, journeyperson status, and hands-on experience with OBD-II diagnostics, DMS systems, and MS Office. This on-site role requires physical endurance and a commitment to safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

  • Red Seal certificate and journeyperson status required.
  • Experience performing repairs to high safety and quality standards.
  • Ability to lift 70 lbs and stand for long periods.
  • Clean BC Driver License Class 5 or better.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and dealer DMS systems.
  • Experience with OBD-II diagnostics and vehicle technology.

  • Maintain a clean, safe work area and ensure equipment is in good condition.

We are currently hiring a Regular Full-Time Red Seal Automotive Technician based in our Victoria Automotive Service Centre. As a Red Seal Automotive Technician, you will manage any repair that comes to your location. You mentor other technicians and lead by example when it comes to safety, operational excellence and clear communication with Members and your BCAA team.

You’re passionate about finding and solving problems to ensure each Member’s safety and satisfaction when their vehicle is back on the road. You’re analytical and a problem-solver. You love to share your knowledge and mentor those around you. You have excellent communication skills, especially when it comes to conveying technical information to Members. A fast-paced environment, flexible hours and weekend work are no problem for you.

Once here, you will:
  • Complete all repairs to meet BCAA’s high standards for safety, performance and outstanding service to our Members.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment that complies with environmental standards, operational policies and procedures while ensuring equipment is in good working condition for your entire BCAA team.
  • Be proactive by staying current with advances in vehicle technology.
  • Work collaboratively with the Service Manager and other team members to ensure a seamless experience for our Members.
  • Assist and mentor apprentices and lube technicians to ensure repairs are accurate and complete.
What you bring:
  • Automotive Red Seal Certificate.
  • Current and up-to-date training on automotive technologies with a focus on OBD-II courses.
  • Three-years of experience as a Journeyperson Technician.
  • Clean BC Driver License Class 5 or better.
  • Ability to lift 70 lbs (32 kg), bend, reach, walk and stand for long periods of time.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Experience with Automotive DMS systems and modern scan tools.

The salary range for this position is $77,074.32 ($37.05/hr) to $85,638.12 ($41.17/hr) [straight-rate] and is determined via job-related knowledge, skills, experience, certifications, market demand and internal equity.

In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for a 9% target performance bonus paid quarterly and annually, with the opportunity to earn up to 15%, along with a comprehensive Total Rewards package including 3 weeks’ vacation plus wellness and cultural days (PTO prorated based on start date), 6% RRSP matching, Defined Contribution Pension, a $300 Wellness Account (prorated), and a BCAA membership.

This full-time position is 5 days a week, and is an on-site position based out of our Victoria Auto Service Centre (712 Bay Street, Victoria). Applicants who are not located within commuting distance of our Victoria ASC or are not looking to relocate to the Vancouver Island region will not be considered.
