Job summary

BCAA is hiring a Road Assist Fleet Technician in British Columbia. You will provide friendly, professional roadside mechanical assistance and towing to Members, diagnose issues, perform repairs, and ensure safety.

The role includes rotating 24/7 shifts and shifts ranging from 8 to 11.25 hours with a one-year shift lock for stability. The position requires a high school diploma (Red Seal preferred), 5+ years of hands-on auto repair and diagnostics, and a valid BC Driver License Class 5.

Qualifications

  • Completed high school; Red Seal preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on automotive repair and diagnostics.
  • Valid BC Driver License Class 5 for driving 5-ton trucks and tow trucks.
  • Ability to lift at least 70 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to Member requests for roadside assistance, including repairs, battery boosts, tire changes, lockouts, and towing.
  • Conduct detailed diagnostic assessments to identify vehicle issues and resolve solutions.
  • Perform automotive repairs and maintenance with quality workmanship and timely completion.
  • Assist in all weather conditions while ensuring a positive Member experience.
  • Promote BCAA memberships and affiliate products and services.
  • Report issues and take initiative to resolve them with support when needed.
  • Uphold BCAA safety standards and keep vehicles and tools in good condition.
  • Work rotational 24/7 shift work across weekdays, evenings, weekends and holidays.

As a Road Assist Fleet Technician, you’ll use your mechanical expertise and problem‑solving skills to help Members get back on the road safely and efficiently. Whether changing a tire, diagnosing an issue, or arranging a tow, you’ll be the reassuring presence our Members count on when they need it most. Enjoy a rolling 37.5-hour work week, with shifts ranging from 8 to 11.25 hours, scheduled one month in advance. Once you join our 'Shift Pick Pool,' you’ll benefit from a one-year shift lock — offering stability, predictability, and a better work‑life balance.

What you'll do:
  • Respond to Member requests for roadside assistance, including mechanical repairs, battery boosts, tire changes, lockout services, and towing.
  • Conduct detailed diagnostic assessments to identify vehicle issues and resolve appropriate solutions.
  • Perform automotive repairs and maintenance tasks, ensuring quality workmanship and timely completion.
  • Assist in all weather conditions, ensuring a positive Member experience throughout the assistance process.
  • Promote BCAA memberships and general information about affiliate products and services.
  • Report any issues and take the initiative to resolve them, seeking support as needed.
  • Uphold BCAA service and safety standards by ensuring BCAA vehicles, equipment, and tools are kept clean, orderly, and in good working condition.
  • Work rotational 24/7 shift work (including weekdays, evenings, weekends & statutory holidays).
What you bring:
  • Completed your high school diploma, preferably with your Red Seal Certification.
  • You have at least 5 years of hands‑on automotive repair and diagnostics.
  • You're a good driver with a clean BC Driver License Class 5.
  • You're confident navigating our cities and towns while driving any size vehicle - including 5‑ton trucks, tow trucks, and pickup trucks.
  • Capable of lifting at least 70lbs during Member service while prioritizing safety throughout the process.

The salary range for this position is $68,510.52to $85,638.12and is determined viajob‑related knowledge, skills, experience, certifications, market demand and internal equity. In addition to base salary and BCAA benefits, this position is eligible for a performance bonus target of 5%, with the opportunity to earn up to 9%.
