Recycling Material Recovery Facility Manager

The Material Recovery Facility (MRF) Manager ensures the highest standards of environmental safety and operational excellence by effectively managing the day-to-day operations of the assigned MRF and maintaining cost management within the facility.
- Direct supervision of 4-5 full-time employees.
- Indirect supervision of approximately 40-45 full-time employees.
Key Responsibilities of an MRF Manager :
- Operations Management: Managing daily activities, including material handling, sorting, and processing.
- Staff Supervision: Hiring, training, and supervising employees involved in MRF operations.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensuring adherence to safety regulations and industry standards.
- Maintenance and Repairs: Overseeing maintenance and repair of equipment and facilities.
- Cost Management: Monitoring and minimizing operational costs.
- Quality Control: Ensuring the quality of recycled materials before shipment.
- Workflow Analysis: Analyzing workflows to optimize processes and improve efficiency.
- Budget Management: Developing and managing the MRF budget.
- Community Relations: Acting as a liaison with community stakeholders.
- Training and Development: Providing training and development opportunities for employees.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure smooth operation of site, including gatehouse, sorting, and loading.
- Maintain system performance at the highest level.
- Minimize handling and operational costs.
- Reduce turnaround time for trucks entering and leaving the site.
- Propose operational improvements regularly.
- Act as liaison for community relationships and customers as needed.
- Oversee and manage contractual obligations.
- Ensure compliance with company standards and regulations for safe and efficient operations.
- Prepare and analyze budget data, comparing with previous years.
- Foster a positive, team-oriented environment through employee development and motivation.
- Maintain cleanliness and property condition through inspections and preventive maintenance.
- Manage personnel needs, including hiring, coaching, training, and performance evaluation.
- Conduct safety meetings and provide training and presentations professionally.
- Update and submit reports timely.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Manage supervisory employees, including managers and supervisors.
Qualifications and Education:
- Bachelor's Degree or High School Diploma/GED with 4 years of relevant experience.
- 7 years of relevant work experience in addition to educational requirements.
- Preferred: Experience leading a team of 4-5 salaried employees, including managers and supervisors.
