Recycling Material Recovery Facility Manager
Salary: C$120,000 to C$125,000
The Material Recovery Facility (MRF) Manager ensures the highest standards of environmental safety and operational excellence by effectively managing the day-to-day operations of the assigned MRF and maintaining cost management within the facility.
- Direct supervision of 4-5 full-time employees.
- Indirect supervision of approximately 40-45 full-time employees.
Key Responsibilities of an MRF Manager :
- Operations Management: Managing daily activities such as material handling, sorting, and processing.
- Staff Supervision: Hiring, training, and supervising employees involved in MRF operations.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensuring adherence to safety regulations and industry standards.
- Maintenance and Repairs: Overseeing maintenance and repair of equipment and facilities.
- Cost Management: Monitoring and minimizing operational costs.
- Quality Control: Ensuring the quality of recycled materials before shipment.
- Workflow Analysis: Analyzing workflows to optimize processes and improve efficiency.
- Budget Management: Developing and managing the MRF budget.
- Community Relations: Acting as a liaison with community stakeholders.
- Training and Development: Providing training and development opportunities for employees.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform all essential duties satisfactorily; additional minor duties may be assigned.
- Ensure smooth operation of the site, including gatehouse, sorting, and loading areas.
- Maintain optimal system performance.
- Minimize handling and operational costs.
- Reduce turnaround time for trucks entering and leaving the site.
- Propose operational improvements regularly.
- Act as liaison for community relationships and customer interactions.
- Oversee and manage contractual obligations.
- Ensure compliance with company's Mission to Zero standards and safety regulations.
- Prepare and analyze budget data, comparing it to year-to-date and prior year data.
- Foster a positive, team-oriented environment through employee development and motivation.
- Maintain cleanliness and proper maintenance of the facility through inspections and preventive programs.
- Manage personnel needs, including hiring, coaching, training, and performance evaluations.
- Participate in safety meetings and provide training as needed.
- Submit required reports in a timely manner.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Manage supervisory employees, including managers and supervisors.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or High School Diploma/GED with 4 years relevant experience.
- 7 years of relevant work experience.
- Preferred: Experience leading a team of 4-5 salaried employees, including managers and supervisors.
