Recycling Material Recovery Facility Manager

The Material Recovery Facility (MRF) Manager ensures the highest standards of environmental safety and operational excellence by effectively managing the day-to-day operations of the assigned MRF and maintaining cost management within the facility.
- Direct supervision of 4-5 full-time employees.
- Indirect supervision of additional staff.
Key Responsibilities of an MRF Manager :
- Operations Management: Oversee daily activities including material handling, sorting, and processing.
- Staff Supervision: Hire, train, and supervise employees involved in MRF operations.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensure adherence to safety regulations and industry standards.
- Maintenance and Repairs: Oversee maintenance and repair of equipment and facilities.
- Cost Management: Monitor and control operational costs.
- Quality Control: Ensure the quality of recycled materials before shipment.
- Workflow Analysis: Analyze workflows to optimize processes and efficiency.
- Budget Management: Develop and manage the MRF budget.
- Community Relations: Act as liaison with community stakeholders.
- Training and Development: Provide training opportunities for employees.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure smooth operation of the site, including gatehouse, sorting, and loading areas.
- Maintain system performance at the highest level.
- Minimize handling and operational costs.
- Reduce turnaround time for trucks in and out of the site.
- Propose operational improvements regularly.
- Act as liaison for community and customer relationships.
- Manage contractual obligations.
- Ensure compliance with company standards and regulations, including Mission to Zero.
- Prepare and analyze budget data regularly.
- Foster a positive, team-oriented environment through employee development and motivation.
- Maintain cleanliness and property condition through inspections and preventive maintenance.
- Oversee personnel needs: hiring, coaching, training, and evaluating performance.
- Conduct and participate in safety meetings and training sessions.
- Update and submit reports timely.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Manage supervisory employees, including managers and supervisors, with skills in leadership and team management.
Qualifications Education :
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience (High School Diploma/GED + 4 years relevant experience).
- 7 years of relevant work experience.
- Preferred: Experience leading a team of 4-5 salaried employees, including managers and supervisors.
