Job summary

Home Instead Courtenay is seeking a Recruitment & Engagement Coordinator to lead Care Professional recruitment, training and ongoing engagement. You will partner with leadership to ensure the right people with the right skills are ready to meet client needs, while upholding Home Instead standards.

The role emphasizes screening, onboarding, ongoing education, and retention initiatives, with opportunities to shape recruitment practices and professional development for the team.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant professional experience in recruitment, human resources, training and developing people.
  • Experience training, coaching, facilitating or developing others.
  • Strong interviewing, relationship-building and communication skills.
  • Excellent organization, follow-through and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Sound professional judgment and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Confidence with technology and ability to learn new systems.
  • Valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement creative recruitment strategies online and in local communities.
  • Manage recruitment advertising, applicant leads and candidate pipeline.
  • Screen and interview with focus on values, professionalism and fit.
  • Coordinate pre-employment screening and documentation.
  • Lead orientation and new-hire training.
  • Deliver Home Instead training including Alzheimer’s/dementia education.
  • Coordinate ongoing education and development for Care Professionals.
  • Coach to build confidence and high standards of care.
  • Build relationships with Care Professionals and conduct check-ins and reviews.
  • Support retention initiatives and meet workforce goals.

About The Role

The Recruitment & Engagement Coordinator plays a key role in finding, selecting, training, developing and retaining the Care Professionals who deliver that care every day.

This is a highly people-focused role for someone who combines warmth with professionalism, has strong judgment, holds high standards and genuinely enjoys helping others succeed.

You will lead Care Professional recruitment and training, support ongoing engagement and performance, and work closely with our leadership team to ensure we have the right people, with the right skills, ready to meet the needs of our clients.

Key Responsibilities
Recruitment & Hiring
  • Develop and implement creative recruitment strategies online and within our local communities.
  • Manage recruitment advertising, applicant leads and the candidate pipeline.
  • Respond to applicants promptly and create a professional, welcoming candidate experience.
  • Conduct screening and interviews with a strong focus on character, values, professionalism and fit.
  • Complete reference checks and coordinate required pre-employment screening and documentation.
  • Partner with scheduling, client care, and leadership to understand current and future workforce needs.
  • Track recruitment results and continually improve how we attract and select great people.
Training & Development
  • Lead Care Professional orientation and new-hire training.
  • Deliver required Home Instead training, including Alzheimer's and dementia education.
  • Coordinate and deliver ongoing education and Care Professional development.
  • Identify individual and team learning needs and develop appropriate training plans.
  • Maintain accurate training records and required education standards.
  • Evaluate and continuously improve training content and delivery.
  • Coach Care Professionals to build confidence, capability and consistent high standards of care.
Engagement & Retention
  • Build strong, trusted relationships with Care Professionals.
  • Conduct new-hire check-ins, annual reviews and ongoing development/coaching conversations.
  • Develop meaningful recognition and engagement initiatives.
  • Coordinate Care Professional meetings and regular communications.
  • Identify concerns, performance issues and retention risks early and support appropriate resolution.
  • Conduct stay and exit conversations to better understand the Care Professional experience.
  • Support Care Professional retention and workforce goals.
Standards & Accountability
  • Uphold Home Instead standards, policies and expectations.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential recruitment, training and employee documentation.
  • Support performance coaching and corrective conversations when required.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, discretion and sound judgment.
  • Help ensure Care Professionals understand and consistently meet the standards expected of them.
Collaboration & Team Support
  • Work closely with Scheduling, Client Care, and Leadership.
  • Supervised under the direction of Human Resources manager
  • Communicate openly and effectively with candidates, Care Professionals and our office team.
  • Contribute to problem-solving and operational priorities across the team.
  • Participate in scheduled on-call and escalation coverage as a secondary responsibility, including occasional evenings or weekends.
  • Escalate clinical, employee-relations or operational concerns to the appropriate leader when required.
Qualifications & Experience

Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business, Healthcare Administration, Education, Social Services or a related field is an asset.
