Job summary

AgeCare is seeking a part-time Recreation Therapy Aide to support residents’ engagement and well-being in a compassionate care environment in Alberta. You will help residents maintain skills, foster social connections, and support the recreation program.

You bring a post-secondary credential in Recreation and Leisure Studies or Therapeutic Recreation (or are enrolled) and a willingness to travel within the province for training. Practical healthcare experience is an asset.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Recreation and Leisure Studies, Therapeutic Recreation, or a related field from a recognized college or university.
• Current enrollment in a post-secondary program in Recreation and Leisure Studies, Therapeutic Recreation, or a related field, with expected completion within three years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate and timely departmental records and complete required documentation (assessments, care planning, MDS coding, progress notes, calendars).
• Participate in evaluating the recreation program and support quality improvement initiatives.
• Ensure recreation supplies and equipment are maintained and report deficiencies to the Program Manager.
• Work a variety of shifts including days, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays.
• May involve travel within the province for education, training, and meetings as required.
