Job summary

AgeCare Sunrise Garden in Brooks, Alberta is seeking a part-time Recreation Therapy Aide to support planned and spontaneous recreation activities that promote residents' engagement and well-being. You will maintain records, participate in program evaluation, and ensure supplies and equipment meet infection prevention standards while working a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays.

• Diploma or degree in Recreation and Leisure Studies, Therapeutic Recreation, or related field.
• Current enrollment in a post-secondary program in Recreation and Leisure Studies or Therapeutic Recreation with expected completion within three years.
• Knowledge/experience delivering recreation services in healthcare or long-term care is an asset.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a dynamic care environment.
• Must be able to obtain a current Vulnerable Sector Check and Criminal Record Check or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate and timely departmental records and complete documentation (Resident Assessments/Re-Assessments, Care Planning, MDS Coding/RAPs, Progress Notes, ActivityPro entries, monthly calendars).
• Participate in ongoing evaluation of the recreation program and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
• Ensure recreation supplies, equipment, and resources are maintained in good condition per infection prevention and control standards; report deficiencies to the Program Manager.
• Work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, weekends and statutory holidays.
• May travel within the province for education, training and meetings as required.
