BGC Okanagan is hiring a summer student for the Program Coordinator role for our Kelowna and West Kelowna Clubs.It’s a great opportunity to work with awesome kids and an amazing team member. Recreation Program Coordinator is tasked with planning and coordinating recreation programs to ensure that BGC Okanagan offers high quality recreational activities for kids ages 7-13 years. Our program includes many adventure days and excursions across Okanagan, and day to day the Program Coordinator ensure that our activities go as smoothly as possible. This role is temporary for the period from July 2 till August 22, 2025.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of an assigned program. Develops, implements, coordinates, and evaluates plans and programs designed to ensure that the needs of children, youth, and families are met. Ensures that program standards, guidelines and policies of BGCO are maintained and that all licensing requirements are met.
  • Assists with the recruitment of program staff and volunteers including conducting interviews, selection, hiring, and orientation.
  • Authority for the day-to-day direction, performance feedback of program staff and volunteers. Addresses staff workplace issues and assists in resolving workplace disputes.
  • Ensures that accurate program and client records are maintained, and that confidentiality is a priority.
  • Responsible for the co-ordination of quality and diverse programming. Works closely with the Manager on program development, procedures, and evaluations.
  • Manages program budgets.
  • Ensures effective communication with staff and families.

Qualifications:

  • Recent related experience includes one-year supervisory or administrative experience or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience and/or Diploma in a related human/ social service field.
  • Demonstrated teamwork, leadership, and supervisory skills.
  • First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain within three months
  • Class 4 Drivers License or willingness to obtain
  • Successfully completion of the Agency screening process, including criminal record check

Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, hours between 9:00 am - 8:00 pm, hours dependent on program’s needs.

Rate of Pay: $25.43 per hour

Closing Date: May 30, 2025
