Job summary

Yellowknives Dene First Nation invites applications for a Recreation Coordinator to lead the planning and delivery of community recreation programs in N'dilo with some days in Dettah.

The role requires leadership, confidentiality, strong communication and the ability to work with limited supervision; you will collaborate with YKDFN departments to promote health and wellness across communities.

Qualifications

  • Experience in the recreation field and with First Nations contexts.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with emphasis on confidentiality.
  • First Aid/CPR certification is required.
  • Class 4 driver's license required.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the delivery of recreation program services for YKDFN communities.
  • Collaborate with other YKDFN departments to promote health and wellness.
  • Work under supervision of the Director, Health and Wellness and engage with communities.

Job description

Under the authority of Yellowknives Dene First Nation Government Chief and Council, and under the direct supervision of the Director, Health and Wellness, the Recreation Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the effective and efficient delivery of recreation program services for the YKDFN communities. The position will also work collaboratively with other YKDFN departments and other groups to promote health and wellness.

The Recreation Coordinator requires experience in the recreation field, experience with First Nations, team leadership, work with limited supervision, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially with the focus on confidentiality. This position is located in N'dilo with some days in Dettah.

Typical Qualifications
  • Grade 12 Certificate;
  • Certificate or diploma in Recreation Leadership, Administration or Management Studies;
  • First Aid/CPR;
  • Class 4 drivers license.
  • Combination of 2 years of education and 4 years of related work experience.
