Job summary

Inglewood Care Centre in West Vancouver, BC, is seeking a Recreation Assistant on a casual basis. You will deliver therapeutic and recreational activities as part of a multidisciplinary team, supporting residents’ well-being and independence within Baptist Housing’s Wellness Model of Care.

The role emphasizes compassionate engagement, person-centered activities, and collaboration with staff to tailor programs to each resident’s needs while maintaining safety and quality of life.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 completion
• Recreation Therapy Aide certificate or diploma (minimum 12-month program)
• Current Food Safe Certificate
• Current First Aid Certificate
• At least 1 year of experience in implementing recreation programs in residential care
• A combination of education, training, and experience may be considered (Registered Care Aide with activity aide certificate)
• Class 4 License is an asset

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement, and lead a variety of recreational and therapeutic programs for residents
• Support mealtimes and provide basic resident care as needed
• Ensure a safe, clean, welcoming environment for residents and team members
• Provide guidance and supervision to volunteers involved in recreational programming
• Monitor and document residents' participation and progress in activities
• Tailor activities to individual preferences and abilities to promote autonomy and dignity
• Follow infection prevention and safety protocols and support health initiatives
• Pursue ongoing professional development to enhance effectiveness in the role

About The Role

As a Recreation Assistant, you are at the heart of creating joyful and engaging experiences that support the well-being and independence of our residents. This is a casual position where you’ll work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to deliver person-centered programs that align with our Wellness Model of Care.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, implement, and lead a variety of recreational and therapeutic programs that support the physical, emotional, and cognitive needs of residents
• Support mealtimes and provide basic resident care as needed
• Ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for residents and team members
• Provide guidance and supervision to volunteers involved in recreational programming
• Monitor and document residents' participation and progress in activities
• Promote resident autonomy and dignity by tailoring activities to individual preferences and abilities
• Follow all infection prevention and control protocols and support health and safety initiatives
• Continue your professional development to enhance your effectiveness in the role

Compensation & Benefits

We offer a competitive salary of $30.71.
