Job summary

Millennium EMS Solutions Ltd. is seeking a field-oriented professional to lead site assessments, remediation and reclamation projects across Western Canada. You will oversee field execution, coordinate contractors, and ensure compliance with regulatory criteria for abandoned well-site closure activities.

The role combines office and field work (roughly 20/80 split) and requires strong reporting, client communication, and safety discipline in a demanding consultancy environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum five years of experience in execution and management of site assessments and reclamation in the oil and gas industry.
  • Eligibility for membership in a relevant professional organization is required.
  • Knowledge of the 2010 Reclamation Criteria and Guidelines; Tier 1 and 2 Remediation Guidelines.
  • Knowledge of BC Contaminated Sites Regulation, BC Site Remediation and Reclamation Manual, and BE Ecological Suitable Species Guideline.
  • Must have a valid, non-GDL Class 5 Drivers license.

Responsibilities

Description

To work as part of MEMS Reclamation and Construction Team in the preparation and execution of site assessments, remediation and reclamation projects. This role supports and leads field execution and site supervision for abandoned well site closure activities against Alberta and BC environmental and reclamation criteria, including Detailed Site Assessments, Phase 3 ESA’s, and reclamation earthworks, contractor coordination, field documentation and technical reporting for clients throughout Western Canada. This full-time position requires a combination of office and field work (20/80 split) in a demanding consultative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Planning, managing and implementing field programs, evaluating collected information; preparing professional reports, and ensuring quality assurance and quality control.
  • Development of cost estimates and work plans based on project requirements and client needs.
  • Act as the field/site lead to ensure client safety requirements, MEMS safety and quality expectations, daily reporting, and field execution requirements are met.
  • Compile project files; organize and verify field data; and interpret laboratory results, maps, survey plans, and air photos to support assessment, closure, and reclamation decisions.
  • Synthesize published and site-specific information to interpret site conditions and develop reclamation conceptual site models that support project planning, field decisions, and communication of key regional and local ecosystem issues.
  • Lead or support field programs, including vegetation monitoring and maintenance, Phase 1 ESA site visits, Detailed Site Assessments, pre-reclamation assessments, remediation, reclamation earthworks, and closure activities.
  • Complete file reviews and prepare technical reports and application materials, including remediation reports, Detailed Site Assessment reports, and reclamation certificate application packages.
  • Apply current Alberta and BC regulatory criteria and guidance, including the 2010 Reclamation Criteria for Wellsites and Associated Facilities, Alberta Tier 1 and Tier 2 Soil and Groundwater Remediation Guidelines, BC Contaminated Sites Regulation, and BCER Certificate of Restoration requirements.
  • Coordinate and supervise contractors in the field; track field expenses, contractor costs, and production progress; and identify and communicate change order needs in a timely manner.
  • Exercise sound field judgment during field execution by identifying site issues, adjusting work within approved scope, and communicating progress, risks, constraints, recommendations, and escalation needs to project managers, clients, contractors, and internal multidisciplinary teams as required.
  • Mentor staff on execution of field work (including remediation and reclamation projects, supervision of sub-contractors, data collection and field documentation, cost and expense tracking and daily field tickets, application of MEMS Safety Management System and Quality Management System on field work) and preparation of cost estimates and reports.
  • Complete peer reviews of work plans, cost estimates, reports, and application materials, building toward senior technical review responsibilities.
  • Support the remediation and reclamation discipline and actively pursue opportunities to promote the development of the group, and
  • other duties as assigned.

What You Bring:

  • Applicable Bachelor’s degree or Diploma with emphasis on reclamation or soil science;
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in the execution and management of site assessments and reclamation, focusing on the oil and gas industry.
  • Eligibility for membership in a relevant professional organization is required.
  • Knowledge and experience with the 2010 Reclamation Criteria and Guidelines as well as the Tier 1 and Tier 2 Remediation Guidelines.
  • Knowledge and experience with the BC Contaminated Sites Regulation, BC Site Remediation and Reclamation Manual and BE Ecological Suitable Species Guideline, Schedule B – Site reclamation requirements, and BCER Certificate of Restoration program.
  • Knowledge of the reclamation certificate application process and a strong understanding of agricultural, forestry and oilfield practices.
  • Must be able to meet the requirements of site access as dictated by our clients, this may include pre-access drug, alcohol and fitness testing, and
  • possess a valid, non-GDL Class 5 Drivers license.

Other Skills and Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of agriculture, forestry and oilfield industry; including associated practices and sciences.
  • Knowledge of reclamation certificate application process.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience driving, hauling a trailer and operating ATVs.
  • Able to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and be able to work effectively in a multi‑disciplinary setting.
  • Good organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Willingness to travel; and
  • excellent safety attitude.

Working Conditions:

  • This individual should expect to spend approximately 80% of their work time at client sites; each individual trip lasting anywhere from 1 to 10 days. This individual may conduct assessments at industrial facilities and or greenfield sites in remote locations. In some cases, the field work may include carrying sampling equipment.
  • Office environment that requires sitting for extended periods of time, as well as field work.
  • Prolonged exposure to computer keyboards and computer screens.
  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
  • Sometimes requires long hours of work. Occasional interruptions outside work hours and travel to other locations are required.
  • Ability to work varying shifts, including the occasional evening and night; and
  • required to walk, stand, climb, bend forward, kneel down, crawl, reach and grasp, push and pull objects, lift and/or move up to 30 kg, sometimes over the shoulders, repetitive bending and lifting of items, along with repetitive arm movements.
