Job summary

Millennium EMS Solutions Ltd. seeks a dedicated environmental professional to join our Reclamation and Construction service group, overseeing remediation and reclamation projects across Western Canada.

The role blends office planning with field work (80/20) in a consultancy setting. You will develop work plans, budgets, and schedules, assess site conditions, manage sub-contractors, and ensure quality deliverables while tracking costs with the accounting team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma with emphasis on reclamation or soil science.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in site assessments and reclamation, focusing on the oil and gas industry.
  • Eligibility for membership in a relevant professional organization is required.
  • Knowledge of the 2010 Reclamation Criteria and Guidelines as well as Tier 1 and Tier 2 Remediation Guidelines.
  • Knowledge of the BC Contaminated Sites Regulation and BC ER Certificate of Restoration program.
  • Knowledge of the reclamation certificate application process and understanding of agricultural, forestry and oilfield practices.
  • Must meet site access requirements, including pre-access drug, alcohol, and fitness testing.
  • Possess a valid, non-GDL Class 5 Driver’s license.

  • Plan, organize, and oversee execution of reclamation projects.
  • Compile data and draft reports for review and submission.
  • Supervise reclamation and remediation work and manage sub-contractors.
  • Track costs and forecast completion milestones with accounting.
  • Coordinate with clients and multidisciplinary teams.

Job description

To work as part of Reclamation and Construction service group to manage and execute environmental remediation and reclamation projects for clients throughout Western Canada. This full-time position requires a combination of office and field work (80/20 split) in a consultancy environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assessing project requirement and client needs for the development, preparation and management of work plans, budgets, and implementation schedules.
  • Developing work plans and cost estimates for projects including pre-reclamation assessments, vegetation monitoring, site maintenance, and detailed site assessments to manage an overall client portfolio. Assisting with preparation of reclamation and remediation work plans.
  • Synthesize published and site-specific information to develop an interpretation of the site conditions, understand and communicate key site issues.
  • Planning, organizing, and overseeing the execution of reclamation projects.
  • Compilation and interpretation of the data collected and report writing and report review.
  • Completing reports, supervision of ESAs, remediation and reclamation projects and management of sub-contractors.
  • Execute all aspects of the project following the contract and ensuring the quality of processes and deliverables.
  • Provide regular and accurate tracking of incurred costs and forecasts of costs and completion milestones in cooperation with the accounting team.
  • Manage numerous projects of low complexity, including sub-consultants and regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate effectively (verbally and written) with clients and internal personnel as required, including within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Updating and/or uploading to databases (internal, clients or regulatory) as required (e.g. milestones, work plans and cost estimates, accruals, reports, etc.).
  • Participating in technical and safety programs, quality assurance and quality control.
  • Complete peer review of drafted reports and review OneStop entries and submissions.
  • Support the remediation and reclamation discipline and actively pursue opportunities to promote the development of the discipline.
  • Complete all work in line with MEMS values; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You Bring:

  • Applicable Bachelor’s degree or Diploma with emphasis on reclamation or soil science.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in the execution and management of site assessments and reclamation, focusing on the oil and gas industry.
  • Eligibility for membership in a relevant professional organization is required.
  • Knowledge and experience with the 2010 Reclamation Criteria and Guidelines as well as the Tier 1 and Tier 2 Remediation Guidelines.
  • Knowledge and experience with the BC Contaminated Sites Regulation and BC ER Certificate of Restoration program.
  • Knowledge of the reclamation certificate application process and a strong understanding of agricultural, forestry and oilfield practices.
  • Must be able to meet the requirements of site access as dictated by our clients, this may include pre-access drug, alcohol, and fitness testing, and
  • possess a valid, non-GDL Class 5 Drivers license.

Other Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong computer skills with knowledge of MS Office Suite. Proficiency in presenting complex results clearly.
  • Ability to work as a part of a team interacting with other team members and contractors.
  • Strong understanding of agriculture, forestry, and oilfield industry; including associated practices and sciences.
  • Knowledge of reclamation certificate application process.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience driving, hauling a trailer and operating ATVs.
  • Able to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and be able to work effectively in a multi‑disciplinary setting.
  • Good organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Willingness to travel; and
  • excellent safety attitude.
