Job summary

Lifetimes Living Inc. in Windsor, Ontario is seeking a Receptionist to provide courteous telephone, reception, and clerical support at our community for residents and families.

The role reports to the General Manager and includes visitor management, logs, and administrative tasks to support the management team. A friendly, dependable candidate with strong English skills and MS Office proficiency is encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

  • Completion of Grade 12 is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write English; second language an asset.
  • Previous employment in health care/hospitality is an asset.
  • Demonstrated empathy and understanding of seniors' needs.
  • Passion for working with seniors.
  • Ability to work from the heart and make others smile.
  • Careful handling of supplies and equipment; keep area neat.
  • Good organizational skills and ability to work independently.
  • Level-headed and calm in emergencies.
  • Clear vulnerable sector screening, TB test or chest x-ray within required timeframes, and two supervisory references.

Responsibilities

  • Pleasantly receive all persons entering the building and be the first impression of the community.
  • Answer the phone using proper etiquette.
  • Provide directions to visitors and callers and notify appropriate people as required.
  • Respect and promote Residents’ Bill of Rights.
  • Maintain a daily log of visitors.
  • Process meal tickets as required.
  • Provide administrative support to the Management Team and General Manager.
  • Support marketing initiatives.
  • Maintain a positive approach and respectful conduct.
  • Attend to residents' needs and notify relevant staff.
  • Complete routine forms and stay informed on government requirements.
  • Adhere to community policies and protect confidentiality.
  • Be knowledgeable of fire and safety programs.
  • Partner with the team to ensure OH&S compliance and risk management.
  • Perform any other tasks as assigned.

The Receptionist reports to the General Manager and is expected to provide courteous and efficient telephone, reception, and clerical support to all clients and assists with clerical duties in

the Home. for receiving and directing visitors and inquiries, relaying and coordinating Resident and associate messages by use of telephone and intercom, and maintaining a record of persons entering and leaving the community.

Wage Rate

The starting wage rate is $19.09/hour.

Responsibilities:

  • Pleasantly receive all persons entering the building, recognizing that they are the first impression of the community,

  • Answer the phone using the appropriate phone etiquette,

  • Provide direction to visitors and callers and/or notify appropriate people as required,

  • Is aware of and respects and promotes the Residents’ Bill of Rights,

  • Maintains a daily log of visitors,

  • Processes meal tickets as required,

  • Provides administrative support to the Management Team through word processing, and other requests directed by the General Manager,

  • Provides support with marketing initiatives,

  • Presents a positive approach, not controlling language and actions towards people,

  • Attends to the needs of the residents and/or notifies appropriate people as required,

  • Completes routine forms as required or directed. Maintain current knowledge of information required by various government or other agencies regarding residents,

  • Understands and adheres to policies of the community,

  • Maintains confidentiality of all financial, personnel, and resident data,

  • Be knowledgeable of and practice the residence's fire and safety programs,

  • Partners with community team to ensure the community is in compliance with Occupational Health and Safety requirements and promotion of Risk Management programs and/or policies; adherence to safety rules and regulations,

  • Any and all other tasks as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Previous employment in a health care/hospitality setting is an asset,

  • Ability to work from the heart and make others smile,

  • Ability to demonstrate care in the use of supplies and equipment, and the ability to maintain a neat work area,

  • Good organizational skills,

  • Ability to work independently,

  • Must be level‑headed and calm in emergencies,

  • Clear vulnerable sector screening (w/ in last 6 months), recent TB test results (w/ in last 6 months) or Chest X-ray (w/ in last 1 yr), and two supervisory references are required.
