Job summary

Lakeshore Residence in Ontario is seeking a Casual Community Connections Coordinator to foster a welcoming atmosphere and connect residents with services and events.

You will support residents and families, maintain logs, and coordinate transportation and admin tasks while collaborating with the team to ensure a high quality living environment.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Social Services, Community Development, Communications, or Gerontology preferred.
  • Experience in LTC, senior living, community support, or social services is an asset.
  • Compassionate, approachable and emotionally intelligent communicator.
  • Strong interpersonal and storytelling abilities; comfortable engaging with diverse individuals and families.
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Google Suite, email, and basic digital photography or media tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must provide a current Vulnerable Sector Check and TB testing results as required.

Responsibilities

  • Create a warm, welcoming atmosphere for residents, families, visitors, and staff.
  • Support residents and families with information, guidance and connection.
  • Weave connections between residents and team members through daily conversations.
  • Maintain the front welcome hub and organize common areas.
  • Collaborate on a calendar of social events for the main entrance area.
  • Share stories appropriately through internal/external channels.
  • Welcome new team members and assist residents moving in.
  • Respond to inquiries by phone or in person with professionalism and discretion.
  • Maintain visitor logs, deliveries, and confidential correspondence.
  • Provide admin support and coordinate transportation and billing tasks.
  • Support the move‑in process and navigation of Home services.
  • Monitor front entrance and Home surveillance system; conduct audits.
  • Participate in team huddles and QA activities.

The wage rate is $ 20.43/hour.

Vacancy:

We are hiring employees to work on a casual basis to help us fulfil our scheduling needs and fill vacant shifts as they arise.

Responsibilities:

Connection & Human Experience

  • Create a warm, welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for all residents, families, visitors,and team members.
  • Support residents and families with information, guidance and connection, ensuringcomfort and trust in their interactions with the Home.
  • Know each resident and team member and purposefully weave connections betweenresidents and team members, building relationships through daily conversations andauthentic engagement;
  • Maintain the front welcome hub and common areas, ensuring the space is inviting,organized, and reflective of home and community life.
  • Collaborate with the Community Connections Manager and/or the Programs Manager ona calendar of social events for main entrance area, including art shows, exhibits andcommunity engagement activities

Storytelling & Culture Building

  • Partner with the interdisciplinary team to share stories appropriately through internal andexternal communication channels, including displays, celebration spaces, bulletin boards,etc
  • In the beginning, welcoming new team members and facilitating residents moving in

Resident and Community Support Services

  • Respond to inquiries by phone or in person with professionalism, empathy and discretion,directing individuals to appropriate supports as needed
  • Maintain visitor logs, deliveries, and correspondence accurately and confidentially.
  • Provide administrative support, care conference booking, organizing residenttransportation, mailing resident billings, liaising with community partners, office supplyinventory, other administrative tasks as assigned
  • Supporting the interdisciplinary team with the resident move‑in process
  • Supporting residents and families to navigate the Home’s services
  • Support residents with access to their Resident Trust Accounts as needed
  • Monitor front entrance to ensure resident safety and awareness of entry/exit activity
  • Monitor the Home’s surveillance system
  • Conduct monthly audits as assigned

Collaboration & Communication

  • Participate in daily or weekly team huddles to share resident and/or family feedback
  • Share home’s content of events and special moments with the Communication Team forwebsite and social media posts.
  • Manage the Optisign content and functionality
  • Assist in the production and distribution of Home communiqués under the direction ofthe Executive Director
  • Support facilitation of resident/family satisfaction surveys and team member engagementsurvey
  • Participate in home-wide continuous quality improvement activities.

Human Resources Management

  • Support call‑ins, calls on weekends
  • Supporting the Human Resources functions as assigned
  • Demonstrate good knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety Act, Labour RelationsAct, Employment Standards Act and requirements under AODA
  • Participate in fire safety demonstrations and fire drills and is able to execute the Home’s emergency plan when required

Leadership

  • Assist with setting the vision, goals and objectives for the departmentin collaboration with team members and in line with the overall home's visionand strategic directions
  • Has problem solving and conflict resolution skills and understands team concepts andteam building.
  • Other duties as assigned and/or indicated in Job Task Inventory

Qualifications:

The qualifications needed to join our family are as follows:

  • Diploma in Social Services, Community Development, Communications, or Gerontologypreferred.
  • Experience in LTC, senior living, community support, or social services is an asset.

  • Must provide a complete and current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check(including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one
  • As a condition of employment, candidates are required to submit documented results ofTB testing (within the last six months or within 14 days upon hire) or a chest X‑ray(within the last year), as per Public Health requirements
  • Two supervisory references required
  • Provide proof of all required vaccines. The Employer strongly recommends to “stay up todate” with the recommended vaccines. Vaccination requirements are subject to changesas determined by the employer.
