Bayshore Government Branch in Edmonton is seeking a Temporary Receptionist for a 3-month contract, full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM. Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs.

You will greet visitors, manage phone lines, schedule meetings, handle data entry and perform general administrative tasks while maintaining records with confidentiality. Previous receptionist experience is required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum two years' recent experience as a receptionist in an office setting.
  • Secondary School Diploma and completion of a clerical or receptionist training program, or equivalent.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication; able to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist visitors, ensuring a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
  • Manage meeting bookings, cancellations, and rescheduling.
  • Answer and direct calls using a multi-line system; take messages as needed.
  • Maintain and update records with accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Provide general administrative support including filing, data entry, and correspondence.
  • Communicate effectively with employees at all levels, customers, and visitors.
  • Keep the reception area clean, organized, and stocked with supplies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Reception Duties: Greet and assist visitors as they arrive, ensuring a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
  • Meeting Scheduling: Manage meeting bookings, cancellations, and rescheduling using our scheduling software.
  • Phone Management: Utilizing a multi-line system, answer and direct phone calls, take messages if needed, and provide information to callers.

Education

Secondary School Diploma; Completion of a clerical or receptionist training program or equivalent prior work experience.

Experience

A minimum of two years recent experience as a Receptionist in an office setting.

Other Skills and Abilities
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated ability and competency with respect to keyboarding, Windows software, multi-line telephone systems and standard office equipment
  • Ability to speak, read and write English fluently as well as French in Branch Offices that provide service to French-speaking clients
  • strong commitment to continual learning
