Job summary

Aramark Canada is seeking a Receiver to join the SMU Dining Services team at Saint Mary’s University in Halifax. You will safely receive products, manage labeling and temperatures, and keep kitchen areas clean to support our student and staff dining operations.

The role involves lifting and moving supplies, optional First Aid/WHMIS certifications, and working under union terms with SEIU Local 2. This is a frontline, team-based position with opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• 1+ years experience in shipping/receiving is preferred.
• 1+ years experience in food service is an asset.
• WHMIS and Food Safe certifications (Basic or Advanced) are preferred; First Aid certification is an asset.
• Ability to work effectively supervised or unsupervised.

Responsibilities

• Receive products with correct labelling, packaging and temperatures when applicable.
• Clean and maintain kitchen areas per cleaning schedule.
• Sweep and mop kitchen floors.
• Clean and sanitize dishes, cookware and equipment.

Are you self-motivated and proud of the work you do? Here at Aramark, we take pride in the level of service we provide! We are seeking a Receiver to join the celebrated SMU Dining Services team at Saint Mary's University.

As a Receiver on our team of other service stars, you?ll take on the important job of safely receiving our food, cleaning and equipment orders to ensure your team has everything they need to serve the students, faculty, and staff of Saint Mary's University!

Job Responsibilities

• Receive all products, ensuring labelling, packaging, and temperatures (when applicable) are correct
• Clean and maintain all kitchen areas as per cleaning schedule
• Sweep and mop all floors in kitchen areas
• Clean and sanitize all dishes, cookware, and equipment thoroughly
• Assist in the unloading and storage of all supplies and groceries
• Stock shelves, refrigerators, freezers, and various stations as needed
• Replenish, rotate, and dispose of food as per HACCP
• Assist other locations as required
• Accountable for maintaining a culture focused on having safety as a value
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• 1+ years? experience in shipping/receiving role considered an asset
• 1+ years? experience in food service considered an asset
• Valid WHMIS and Food Safe (Basic or Advanced), First Aid Certification considered an asset
• Ability to work effectively and efficiently supervised and unsupervised
• Frequently reach below waist, waist to shoulder and above shoulder with frequent neck/back/torso twisting from left to right without restriction, reaching horizontally usually less than 20cm but on occasion can exceed 20cm
• Frequently lift an average weight of approximately 12kg with a maximum of 16kg. On occasion where weight may be greater than 16kg assistance from another person or a manual lifting aid is mandatory
• Perform repetitive movements at the wrist including side to side/up or down and multiple grasps of an average 5kg with a maximum of 10kg. Simple, power and fine finger manipulation for duration of scheduled shift

This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

This is a union position with SEIU Local 2.
