Job summary

Fresh Market Foods is seeking a detail-oriented Receiver to manage stock deliveries, inspect products, and maintain an efficient backroom in Sioux Lookout, ON. The role requires lifting ability, strict safety and quality standards, and strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities include unloading deliveries, verifying orders, inspecting products for expiry and quality, and ensuring proper storage with FIFO. Training in forklift operation may be required; bilingual English/French is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma preferred or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 2 years of receiving, warehouse, grocery, retail, or related experience preferred.
• Knowledge of receiving procedures, inventory control, product rotation, and food safety practices.
• Forklift and Power Jack certification is an asset or willingness to complete training.
• Smart Serve certification is an asset.

Job description

Fresh Market Foods is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Receiver (NOC 14400) to manage stock deliveries, inspect products, and maintain an efficient backroom. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, the ability to lift heavy items, and a commitment to safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities:

• Unload incoming deliveries, verify shipments against purchase orders and invoices, and report any shortages, damages, or discrepancies.
• Inspect incoming products for quality, damage, contamination, temperature, and expiry dates before accepting deliveries.
• Ensure refrigerated and frozen products are moved promptly to the appropriate storage areas and follow food safety requirements.
• Maintain proper inventory rotation using FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures and monitor warehouse products for upcoming expiry dates.
• Keep the receiving and storage areas clean, organized, and safe, including proper stacking and organization of pallets.
• Complete daily beer, pop, and grocery picks and ensure products are delivered to the appropriate department areas.
• Complete receiving documentation, including receiving logs, temperature records, invoices, Bills of Lading, and records of damages, shortages, and credits.
• Safely operate forklifts and power jacks when trained and authorized, and complete required equipment inspections.
• Provide courteous customer service when assisting customers on the sales floor and direct inquiries to the appropriate department.
• Follow all company, Food Safety, Occupational Health and Safety, and receiving procedures and perform other duties as assigned by the Grocery Manager.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Minimum 2 years of receiving, warehouse, grocery, retail, or related experience preferred.
• Knowledge of receiving procedures, inventory control, product rotation, and food safety practices.
• Forklift and Power Jack certification is considered an asset, or the ability to successfully complete company training.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Smart Serve certification is considered an asset.

Terms of Employment: Permanent Full-time (40 hours/week)

Positions Available: 1

Wage/Salary: $21.00/hour – $25.00/hour (Based on Experience)
