Job summary

Independent Concrete Ltd. in Victoria, BC is hiring a Ready-Mix Concrete Plant Operator / Dispatcher to coordinate daily concrete operations, schedule drivers, and ensure OTIS delivery.

The role requires 1–3 years in ready-mix production and knowledge of batching software. You will work with drivers, plant staff and QC/QA, uphold safety and environmental procedures, and contribute to reliable customer service.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience in ready-mix concrete production.
• Experience with concrete batching software is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily plant operations including start-up, shutdown, alarms, security and procedures.
• Schedule drivers, orders, and deliveries to meet customer needs and plant capacity.
• Operate and optimize the concrete batching system for accurate production.
• Ensure concrete is produced and delivered on time and in spec (OTIS).
• Direct and coordinate drivers; collaborate with yard staff and customer service.
• Monitor plant equipment and coordinate maintenance with the maintenance team.
• Order, receive and monitor raw materials for production.
• Coordinate fleet inspections, maintenance, repairs, and regulatory requirements.
• Support QC/QA to meet company and customer requirements.
• Promote safety policies and ensure timely incident reports.
• Ensure environmental equipment/procedures meet company policies.
• Submit timecards, tickets, reports, and checklists.
• Maintain batching software and related systems.
• Communicate with General Manager and Operations Supervisor about operations and issues.
• Participate in special projects and other duties as required.

Position Overview

The RMX Concrete Plant Operator/Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating daily ready-mix concrete operations to ensure safe, efficient, and timely production and delivery of quality concrete. This role works closely with customers, drivers, plant personnel, maintenance, Quality Control, and management.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily plant operations, including start-up, shutdown, alarms, security, and operating procedures.
• Schedule drivers, orders, and deliveries to meet customer requirements and plant capacity.
• Operate and optimize the concrete batching system to ensure accurate and efficient production.
• Ensure concrete is produced and delivered On Time and In Spec (OTIS).
• Direct and coordinate drivers. Collaborate with yard personnel, plant assistants, and customer service staff.
• Monitor plant equipment and coordinate regular and emergency maintenance with the maintenance team.
• Order, receive, and monitor raw materials required for production.
• Coordinate fleet operations, including inspections, maintenance, repairs, and regulatory requirements.
• Support QC/QA activities to ensure products meet or exceed company and customer requirements.
• Promote company safety policies and procedures, including timely completion of incident and near-miss reports.
• Ensure environmental equipment and procedures are operated in accordance with company policies.
• Complete and submit required administrative documents, including timecards, truck tickets, daily reports, and checklists.
• Ensure batching and related computer software is maintained and updated.
• Communicate regularly with the General Manager and Operations Supervisor regarding plant operations, maintenance, customer requirements, and issues.
• Participate in special projects and perform other duties as required.
