Job summary

Royal Mail seeks a Level 3 qualified mechanic for Oxford Workshop on a permanent contract. You will perform inspections, diagnostics, maintenance and repair work on a diverse fleet including LCVs and HGVs, using your own toolkit in a modern workshop.

You must hold a Level 3 qualification with a UK driving licence; HGV with trailer is preferred. The role requires flexibility to cover a changing shift pattern, and offers a pathway for career development and training.

Qualifications

  • Advanced Level 3 qualification in Light or Heavy vehicles.
  • Own toolkit for standard repairs.
  • Experience on a wide range of vehicles (LCV/HGV).
  • Valid UK manual driving licence; HGV with trailer preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections, diagnostics, maintenance and repairs on a range of vehicles, trailers and equipment.
  • Use personal toolkit for routine maintenance and repairs; access to specialist tools in workshops.

We’re recruiting a Level 3 qualified mechanic at Oxford Workshop on aPermanent contract, with the potential to earn up to £60k including overtime.

Working Hours: Full time

  • 14:30, week 2: 09:30
  • 18:00). You will be required to work 1 in 3 Saturdays (with a weekday day off)

  • You’ll perform a full range of inspections, diagnostic, maintenance, and repair procedures on a range of vehicles, trailers, and mechanical equipment.
  • You’ll use your own personal toolkit to undertake routine maintenance and repair light / heavy goods vehicles.
  • You’ll also have access to specialist tooling and shared equipment in our modern, fully equipped workshops.
A bit about you
  • Qualified mechanic: you’re fully qualified to an advanced level (Level 3 in Light or Heavy vehicle or equivalent). You’ve got your own toolkit for standard repairs.
  • Varied vehicle experience: Proven Vehicle Technician experience working on a wide range of vehicles, for example LCV / HGV.
  • Valid UK driving licence: You hold a full manual UK driving licence, preferably an HGV licence with trailer experience.
  • High working standards: you take pride in your work and do what is necessary to make sure the job is done effectively.
  • Flexible to service demands: you’re able to work on a flexible shift rota. You’re always willing to support your team where necessary.
