Job summary

Myo Palate in Toronto is seeking an engineer to design, prototype, and fabricate custom bioprocessing components on tight iteration cycles. You will translate biology requirements into functional hardware that integrates with stem cell production systems, using parametric CAD, scripting, and LLM-assisted workflows to accelerate the loop.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in mechanical, manufacturing, or mechatronic engineering.
• SOLIDWORKS proficiency for rapid iteration.
• Experience with benchtop CNC milling and resin/FDM 3D printing.
• Material and part selection for manufacturability.
• Python or MATLAB for data analysis and automation.
• Ability to use LLMs to speed up workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design and model bioprocessing components and assemblies in SOLIDWORKS for fabrication.
• Operate and maintain benchtop CNC mills and resin/FDM printers.
• Drive rapid design-build-test loops from process requirement to prototype and bench test.
• Use LLMs and automation to accelerate design iteration, scripting, and documentation.
• Select materials and parts that meet sterilization and biocompatibility requirements.
• Interpret CFD models to evaluate flow, mixing, shear, and heat transfer.
• Perform mechanical assembly and integration with existing bioprocess systems.
• Create and maintain engineering documentation: drawings, BOMs, SOPs.
• Collaborate with biologists and process engineers to translate cell culture requirements.
• Support equipment commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
