Job summary

Dumas Contracting Inc. is seeking a Raise Miner to develop vertical or inclined openings and install critical infrastructure such as ventilation systems, manways, and utility services to ensure safe access and operational efficiency between mine levels.

Responsibilities include raising excavation, installing ducting and fans, constructing secure manways, and laying water, air, and electrical lines while maintaining strict safety and site protocols across the operation.

Qualifications

• Underground hard rock mining core with Raise Climber module or equivalent.
• 2–3 years' experience operating raise climbers underground.
• Strong mechanical aptitude; able to work independently.
• Excellent safety record; comfortable in confined spaces.

• Install ventilation ducting and fans to maintain airflow in the raise.
• Construct and secure manways for personnel access and emergency egress.
• Install water lines, air lines, and electrical cables as required for mine operations.
• Ensure all services are properly anchored and protected during mucking and blasting.
• Ensure compliance with Dumas and site-specific safety protocols and environmental regulations.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to meet all targets.
• Participate in workplace inspections and hazard assessments.

Wage: $87.00 - $91 /HR

Potential Renumeration: Referral Bonus

About The Role

As a Raise Miner at Dumas, you will be responsible for developing vertical or inclined openings (raises) and installing critical infrastructure such as ventilation systems, manways, and utility services. This role ensures safe access, proper airflow, and operational efficiency between mine levels.

Key Responsibilities

• Excavate and advance raises using approved drilling and blasting techniques.
• Install ventilation ducting and fans to maintain airflow in the raise.
• Construct and secure manways (ladders, platforms, safety landings) for personnel access and emergency egress.
• Install water lines, air lines, and electrical cables as required for mine operations.
• Ensure all services are properly anchored and protected during mucking and blasting.
• Ensure compliance with Dumas and site-specific safety protocols and environmental regulations.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to meet all targets.
• Participate in workplace inspections and hazard assessments.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2–3 years’ experience operating raise climbers in underground mining.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work independently.
• Excellent safety record and ability to work in confined spaces.
