Job summary

PNR RailWorks is seeking a Flagman in Canada to monitor and control railway construction and maintenance activities, ensuring safe completion near rail infrastructure. The role focuses on establishing a safe system of work to protect rail operations and provide rail corridor access and control on site.

The position requires compliance with CROR, General Engineering Instructions, Customer Safety Instructions, and Engineering Track Standards, with oversight of Sub-Foreman as applicable.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years related experience in the railway industry specific to track protection.
  • Track Inspection Guidelines certification is an asset, able to requalify as required.
  • Certified in Canadian Railway Operating Rules and able to requalify as required.
  • Ability to read and understand schedules, standard railway plans and specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures compliance to railway safety requirements and instructions utilizing a strong understanding of railway safe practices and CROR.
  • Provides instructions to ensure workers understand site requirements prior to work under protection.
  • Be physically present with workers to ensure protection requirements are met.
  • Communicates with supervisors, contractor reps, and Rail Traffic Controllers to coordinate protection and instructions.
  • Applies rules and regulations to support safe on-time movement of trains through work zones.
