Job summary

RailWorks Corporation is seeking an Operations Compliance Specialist to support projects and report to the Operations Compliance Manager or designate. The role includes audits of operations staff and subcontractors, coaching on railway rules, and coordinating timely service delivery.

Responsibilities cover flagging, signaling setup, safety leadership, and documentation for billing, with travel to job sites as required. Overnight travel and outdoor site conditions are expected.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a recognized post-secondary engineering or technical program in a related field is preferred.
• Minimum 5 years railway operating environment experience.
• Exceptional analytical, planning, problem solving and organizational skills.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work to deadlines.
• Ability to build relationships and work effectively with a team.
• Self-motivated, innovative, committed and honest.
• Strong interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills.

Responsibilities

• Builds and maintains relationships with Clients.
• Provide coaching and educating to operations employees relating to railway rules and best practices, including but not limited to CROR and TWSI interpretation and application.
• Complete operational Audits on operations staff and sub-contractors
• Acting as Qualified Flagger when required.
• Set up, reposition and dismantle railway specific signals (flags) at designated locations
• Communicate effectively with the work group being protected, other flagmen and Rail Traffic Controllers using established procedures and radio equipment to ensure the understanding of instructions, track protection limits, work site hazards and other specific site conditions.
• Generating daily time sheets.
• Tracking and documenting project schedule activity, start, finish, % complete and major milestones.
• Tracking and collection of documentation for extra work, submittals and backup for billing purposes.
• Acts as a leader in Safety and Quality by adhering to and promoting plans, policies and procedures.
• Performs other related administrative or project-based duties as assigned.
• Assists in investigations into incidents or violations as required.
• Liaise with Document Control team to aid in distribution of required bulletins and other operational documents.
• Take part in weekly safety calls to discuss items relevant to safe operations.
