Job summary

PNR RailWorks in Mississauga, Canada, is seeking an Operations Compliance Specialist to support projects under the Operations Compliance Manager. The role involves client interaction, conducting audits of operations staff and subcontractors, document control, and briefing on new railway rules and procedures.

You will coordinate timely service delivery, lead safety and quality initiatives, perform site flagging duties when required, and help prepare schedules and billing documentation.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from a post-secondary engineering or technical program in a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years railway operating environment experience.
  • Exceptional analytical, planning, problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work to deadlines.
  • Ability to build relationships and work effectively with a team.
  • Self-motivated, innovative, committed and honest.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to see the bigger picture.
  • Clean driving record and ability to travel as required.

Responsibilities

  • Builds and maintains relationships with Clients.
  • Provide coaching and educating to operations employees relating to railway rules and best practices, including CROR and TWSI interpretation and application.
  • Complete operational Audits on operations staff and sub-contractors.
  • Acting as Qualified Flagger when required.
  • Set up, reposition and dismantle railway specific signals at designated locations.
  • Communicate effectively with the work group being protected, other flagmen and Rail Traffic Controllers.
  • Generating daily time sheets.
  • Tracking and documenting project schedule activity, start, finish and milestones.
  • Tracking and collection of documentation for extra work, submittals and billing purposes.
  • Acts as a leader in Safety and Quality by adhering to and promoting plans, policies and procedures.
  • Performs other related administrative or project-based duties as assigned.
  • Assists in investigations into incidents or violations as required; liaise with Document Control for bulletins and other documents.
  • Take part in weekly safety calls to discuss items relevant to safe operations.
  • Other duties as required

Position Summary

Primary/Essential Responsibilities and Duties
  • Builds and maintains relationships with Clients.
  • Provide coaching and educating to operations employees relating to railway rules and best practices, including but not limited to CROR and TWSI interpretation and application.
  • Complete operational Audits on operations staff and sub-contractors
  • Acting as Qualified Flagger when required.
  • Set up, reposition and dismantle railway specific signals (flags) at designated locations
  • Communicate effectively with the work group being protected, other flagmen and Rail Traffic Controllers using established procedures and radio equipment to ensure the understanding of instructions, track protection limits, work site hazards and other specific site conditions.
  • Generating daily time sheets.
  • Tracking and documenting project schedule activity, start, finish, % complete and major milestones.
  • Tracking and collection of documentation for extra work, submittals and backup for billing purposes.
  • Acts as a leader in Safety and Quality by adhering to and promoting plans, policies and procedures.
  • Performs other related administrative or project-based duties as assigned.
  • Assists in investigations into incidents or violations as required.Liaise with Document Control team to aid in distribution of required bulletins and other operational documents.
  • Take part in weekly safety calls to discuss items relevant to safe operations.

Required Skills and Qualifications
