Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking a highly skilled Traction Power and Electrification Engineer to contribute to the design, integration, and delivery of traction power and power delivery systems for rail and transit projects across Canada. This role is within our Rail Systems team and will contribute to the growth of our Canadian operations.

This position offers the opportunity to work with multidisciplinary teams, engage with clients and suppliers, and help shape delivery in North America.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or related discipline.
  • At least 7 years of experience in the design, specification, installation, or maintenance of traction power systems or related rail electrification.
  • PE license in APEGA, EGBC, or PEO.
  • Experience with traction power, propulsion power, or power rail systems such as 3rd/4th rail.
  • Familiarity with Canadian and international railway electrification standards.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to traction power and electrification system engineering for rail and transit project delivery.
  • Prepare conceptual designs and assist budget development for traction power systems.
  • Review and validate designs, installation plans, and testing procedures for substations and electrification systems.
  • Support projects through feasibility to commissioning lifecycle.
  • Provide input to client contracts and system requirements.
  • Coordinate with utility providers for power supply integration.
  • Develop relationships with suppliers and delivery partners.
