Job summary

Arup in Toronto is seeking graduates to join the Bridges & Civil Structures team. You’ll work across lifecycle design, using CAD and hydraulic modelling tools to develop site layouts, roadways, drainage, and water networks.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Use Autodesk AutoCAD/Civil 3D and Bentley MicroStation/OpenRoads to design site layouts, roadways, drainage and utilities
• Use hydraulic modelling tools (InfoWorks, Hydraflow, PCSWMM, EPANET) for water infrastructure design
• Research and apply relevant codes and specifications for infrastructure design

The Bridges & Civil Structures (BCS) team delivers innovative engineering solutions for some of Canada’s most significant bridge, transportation, and infrastructure projects. Working across the full project lifecycle, the team undertakes preliminary and detailed structural design, advanced structural analysis, technical reporting, and design reviews for new and existing civil structures. Graduates have the opportunity to contribute to landmark projects, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, develop expertise in industry-leading design tools and engineering codes, and help shape resilient, sustainable infrastructure that serves communities for generations.

The opportunity

• Use Autodesk software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D) and Bentley software (MicroStation, OpenRoads/InRoads) to design and develop site layouts, roadways, drainage systems, utility networks, and grading and earthworks designs.
• Use hydraulic modelling tools such as InfoWorks, Hydraflow, PCSWMM, and EPANET to analyze and design stormwater, sanitary sewer, and potable water distribution systems.
• Conduct research and apply the relevant codes, standards, technical specifications, and design requirements necessary for the development of these infrastructures.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to contribute to the successful delivery of sustainable and integrated projects.
• Apply your understanding of the various planning, design, and construction phases of engineering projects.
• Analyze regulatory requirements and approval processes applicable at different stages of project delivery.
• Work closely with clients and project stakeholders to develop solutions that address their needs and concerns.
• Contribute to the preparation of technical documentation, including reports, presentations, technical memoranda, calculation packages, and specifications.

Is this role right for you?

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of fundamental civil engineering principles.
• Experience with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software.

Toronto Hiring Range – Hiring Range

The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performedin Toronto is $72,250 to $74,250 per year. This range iscommensuratewith experience, educational background, and skill level. Benefits are not included in the base salary. Please note hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of Toronto will differ.
