Position Description

The Radiology Technologist Assistant provides support to the interprofessional team with tasks such as screening, patient flow support, patient transfers, stocking supplies and supporting families during imaging procedures. This role supports the effectiveness and efficiency of the imaging workflow, which in turn is expected to improve patient experience and staff experience in providing quality patient care in imaging.

Here's what you'll get to do

• Greet patients and families and orient them to the department.
• Support the flow of patients and families starting from registration through to the end of their visit.
• Support the clerical staff with the registration and flow of patients within the clinic as needed.
• Support the MRTs in their area of practice for activities such as, but not limited to: completing preliminary MRI screening to flag concerns and supports, communicating necessary preparations, verifying bloodwork, organizing transport, supporting physical patient transfers and positioning, changing rooms over by moving coils and equipment, etc.
• Document clinical information in the patients chart such as height, weight, head circumference, etc.
• Work closely with the clinical team to ensure smooth and seamless daily operations of the clinic.
• Assist in ensuring adherence to MRI and X-ray safety standards.
• Provide non-clinical support by prepping and cleaning scan rooms, renewing and organizing supplies, restocking linen, scanning documents, etc.
• Facilitate communication flow via telephone, paging, and computer access.
• Collate clinical data and relay this information in a precise and timely manner to colleagues within and outside of the organization.
• Other duties as assigned to support the care team.

• Bachelors degree or diploma in a health-related field.
• Experience working in a complex, fast paced, inter-professional team environment.
• Excellent problem-solving skills that demonstrate an ability to anticipate potential issues and develop solutions.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills with both colleagues and patients.
• Demonstrated commitment and actions in advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion objectives.
• Prior radiological knowledge and experience preferred.
• Experience with EPIC.
• Scheduling experience an asset.
• Knowledge of medical terminology an asset.
