Job summary

FED Group is seeking an R&D Technician – Scientific Support to join a small R&D team. You will develop formulations, prepare laboratory prototypes, and run trials to improve products and processes. Collaboration with Quality, Production, Engineering and Sales will be essential.

You should have a strong scientific background and be fluent in French with intermediate English; HACCP knowledge is an asset. Training can be provided for the right mindset and curiosity.

Do you have a scientific background and want to develop your experience in an environment combining laboratory work, formulation, product development and process improvement? We are currently looking for an R&D Technician – Scientific Support to join a small R&D team within a food manufacturing company.YOUR MISSIONSReporting to the R&D Coordinator, you will support the development and improvement of products, from formulation and laboratory testing to production trials.Your main responsibilities will include:Developing and modifying product formulations according to customer and company needs;Preparing laboratory prototypes and product samples;Planning, conducting and documenting R&D trials and scientific validation studies;Supporting production trials, scale-ups and new product launches;Analyzing test results and identifying opportunities to improve product quality and process efficiency;Developing and maintaining product specifications;Supporting the preparation of nutrition facts tables and reviewing ingredient lists and product claims;Reviewing and validating product labels, packaging and printed materials;Preparing technical reports and documenting results;Collaborating with Quality, Production, Engineering, Sales and other departments;Maintaining product, formulation and specification information in the ERP/MES system.YOUR PROFILEWe are looking for someone with a strong scientific background, analytical thinking and genuine curiosity about product development.- You may have a background in: Food Science; Biochemistry; Microbiology; Pharmacy; Biotechnology; Or another related scientific field.- Experience in food manufacturing, laboratory work, quality or R&D is an asset.- Previous formulation experience is an asset, but not mandatory. Training can be provided to someone who has the right mindset and enjoys experimenting, analyzing results and adjusting formulations when needed.What You BringStrong analytical and problem-solving skills;Scientific approach and attention to detail;Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time;Autonomy, curiosity and motivation;Strong collaboration and communication skills;Knowledge of HACCP or food safety standards is an asset;Excellent French, both written and spoken;Intermediate English, both written and spoken, to communicate with English-speaking customers, suppliers and business partners and to understand scientific documentation.
