Boston Scientific is offering a 12-month co-op/new grad placement in Mississauga. The R&D Engineering Associate role focuses on designing and manufacturing input during concept and commercialization phases, while contributing to continuous improvement of manufacturing processes.

You will prototype devices, validate plans, and support documentation in a regulated environment. A recent grad or student in mechanical/biomedical/mechatronics engineering with SolidWorks skills is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Actively enrolled in, or a recent graduate from a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, or mechatronics engineering.
  • Proficient in SolidWorks.
  • Six Sigma or LEAN knowledge.
  • Experience with Minitab.
  • Strong interest in biomedical technology.
  • Excellent communication skills and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Support development and optimization of innovative manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Build and test prototype devices to meet requirements.
  • Assist with validation and test plans; support process characterization and testing.
  • Lead LEAN initiatives to improve manufacturing processes.
  • Prepare drawings, work instructions and train for new tools/equipment.
  • Ensure ISO 13485 and FDA compliance with cross-functional teams.
  • Monitor safety practices and documentation of quality processes.

This role follows a hybrid work model requiring employees to be in our local office at least three/four days per week.Sponsorship: Boston Scientific will not offer sponsorship or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for this position at this time.Relocation: Relocation assistance is not available for this position at this time.The R&D Engineering Associate, Co-op/ New Grad is directly involved in providing product design and manufacturability input during concept and commercialization phases as well as actively participating in continuous improvement initiatives when scaling up existing manufacturing processes.Your responsibilities will include:Support the development and optimization of innovative manufacturing processes and equipment including generating ideas, drafting 3D prototypes in SolidWorks, coordinating testing, and researching and providing input to the team as needed.Build and test prototype devices to ensure they meet requirements.Assist with the development of validation and test plans by supporting engineers with the execution of process characterization and testing of devices.Lead LEAN initiatives to make improvements to the manufacturing process.Aid in the development and provision of technical documentation by preparing drawings, writing work instructions, and providing training for new tools and equipment.Design test methods or follow standard protocols to ensure the device meets the patients’ needs.Monitoring safety practices and ensuring ISO 13485 and FDA compliance while collaborating with cross functional teams to meet product timelines.In all actions, demonstrates a primary commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance to the Quality Policy and all other documented quality processes and procedures.Other duties as required.Required qualifications:Actively enrolled in, or a recent graduate from a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, or mechatronics engineering.Proficient in SolidWorks.Preferred qualifications:Six Sigma or LEAN knowledgeExperience with MinitabExperience in a highly regulated manufacturing environmentStrong interest in biomedical technologyMotivated self-starter with a hands-on approachAbility to work independently and with a diverse group of Engineers and CliniciansExcellent communication skills, both written and oralStrong leadership and problem-solving skillsPositive attitude and enthusiasmRequisition ID: 634519Minimum Salary: $34000Maximum Salary: $57900The anticipated compensation and the value of core and optional employee benefits offered by Boston Scientific (BSC) – see www.bscbenefitsconnect.com-will vary based on actual location of the position and other pertinent factors considered in determining actual compensation for the role.
