Trillium Health Partners and their security department are proud winners of the IAHSS Lindberg Bell Award 2017. It is also one of Canada’s largest academically affiliated tertiary care hospitals with highly specialized regional programs in advanced cardiac, vascular, stroke, neurosciences, orthopedic, and sexual assault/domestic violence services.


Position Details:

Position: Full-Time Patrol Officer

Site: Queensway Healthcare Centre | 150 Sherway Drive

Averaging Agreement: Overtime is under Averaging Agreement (AA) after 88 hours

Hours: Continental Nights (2000 - 0800)

Pay rate: $19.19 - $21.59 / hour (based on leveling system)

Posting Date: June 13th, 2025

Internal Closing Date: June 19th, 2025

External Closing Date: June 27th, 2025


Schedule Example:

  • Week 1 - Nights - Mon-Tues, Fri-Sat
  • Week 2 - Nights - Sun, Wed-Thu
  • Week 3 - Nights - Mon-Tues, Fri-Sat
  • Week 4 - Nights - Sun, Wed-Thu

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patrol Hospital Grounds: Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure safety and security.
  • Monitor Surveillance Systems: Operate security cameras and alarm systems, reporting suspicious activity immediately.
  • Access Control: Monitor and control entry points, ensuring only authorized individuals access restricted areas.
  • Respond to Emergencies: Act quickly during medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats, assisting staff during crises and evacuations.
  • Provide Customer Service: Greet and assist visitors, patients, and staff, providing directions and ensuring adherence to policies.
  • Conflict Resolution: De-escalate tense situations and resolve conflicts professionally.
  • Report Writing: Document incidents and activities accurately, completing reports on incidents and concerns.
  • Collaboration with Hospital Staff: Work with staff and law enforcement for coordinated security efforts.
  • Enforce Hospital Policies: Ensure policies are followed and address violations appropriately.

Prerequisites:

  • Valid Security License for Ontario
  • Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C (WSIB-approved)
  • Covid Vaccine (two doses)
  • Immunization records for Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella, and two-step TB skin test
  • Fluency in English (oral and written)
  • Experience in security, law enforcement, or related field preferred
  • Diploma in Justice Studies/Police Foundations is an asset
  • Vulnerable Sector Check upon hire
  • Certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
  • Option to train in UOF/MOAB prior to onboarding; costs covered by Paladin with a 6-month commitment
  • Legal authorization to work in Canada
