Job summary

Groupe SM Tardif Inc. through Tardif Métal seeks a Quality Supervisor for its Lac-Saint-Charles plant. Lead Quality Inspectors, ensure drawings and specs are met, and uphold ISO and CSA standards.

You will train staff, manage non-conformances, and drive corrective actions with production teams. A DVS in Welding and Assembly with 5–7 years of experience is preferred; permanent, full-time role.

Qualifications

• Diploma or equivalent in welding and assembly.
• 5–7 years in quality inspection in the structural steel sector.
• Experience coordinating teams or supervising staff.
• Proficient in blueprint readings and inspection methods.

Responsibilities

• Act as team lead for Quality Inspectors by setting priorities, assigning inspections, and ensuring daily follow-ups.
• Ensure consistent application of policies, procedures, and quality requirements.
• Conduct visual and dimensional inspections per drawings and acceptance criteria.
• Train and coach Inspectors in standards, documentation, and decisions.
• Identify and resolve non-conformances and verify corrective actions.
• Coordinate with production to implement CAPAs and support audits.

Tardif Métal, a subsidiary of Groupe SM Tardif, is looking for a Quality Supervisor for its plant located in Lac-Saint-Charles.

Profile sought

• You hold a Diploma of Vocational Studies (DVS) in Welding and Assembly, or have equivalent experience.
• You have five (5) to seven (7) years of relevant experience in quality inspection within the structural steel industry, including experience in coordinating teams or providing functional supervision.
• You are proficient in blueprint reading, welding symbols, inspection methods, and traceability requirements.
• You have a good knowledge of ISO standards, Hydro-Québec requirements, CSA W47.1, and CSA W59 standards (an asset).
• You are comfortable using computer applications, including Excel, Microsoft 365, and SteelProject (an asset).

Roles and responsabilities

• Act as team lead for Quality Inspectors by setting priorities, assigning inspections, and ensuring daily follow-ups.
• Ensure the consistent and rigorous application of policies, procedures, manufacturing methods, standards, and quality requirements.
• Ensure that visual and dimensional inspections are carried out in accordance with drawings, specifications, and acceptance criteria.
• Train, coach, and support Quality Inspectors in the application of standards, blueprint reading, documentation, and decision-making.
• Identify, document, and analyze non-conformances, and ensure proper follow-up through to full resolution.
• Coordinate with production teams to implement corrective and preventive actions, and verify their effectiveness.
• Assist in the preparation and follow-up of internal, external, and customer audits.

Work schedule : Monday to Thursday, 6:45 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
